  1. Thanks daimy068 for your reply.

How about if I don't seal the starboard permanently to the tank floor, ie. just position it and place all LR on it? Assume I cut the starboard slightly smaller the tank floor dimensions.

Does anyone think this is a bad idea in the long run?

  2. Just wondering what would happen to the 4-line gaps between the 4 sides of the starboard and 4 glass-sides of tank over time? Wouldn't these gaps somehow form dead-spots for debris to accumulate? Any one here using starboard can share their experience? Thanks!

  3. it is better not to use live rocks for a sh tank...firstly...there are cases of sh snicking on at bristtleworms and fireworms...the worms then stress the sh and the sh will die as the spines of the worms will stress the sh....according to some people also...lr will cause abrasions to the tail...

So are bio-balls a good adequate alternative to LR in terms of biological filtration purposes?

Guess in some way, LR serves little function (besides biological filtration) for SHs as they can't hitch on it.

  4. my tank is black background now, but my sh havn't change their color, I heard the sh will change their color as the ambience. However, I have used to a black or or orange and use the human make coral, they also not to change their color :eyeblur:

Thanks shl for your comments! Guess the only way to find out is to experiment myself since it seems (to me) that changing of colors depend on more than 1 factor of environment, eg. mating rituals, etc.

  5. yes, they do change their colours..... don go for black background, unless u wan dark brown to black sh! imo go for blue, like baby blue :yeah:

I see. Are there any hardy species that WON'T change to dark or black color? I really want the dark tank concept leh.

Thanks chinmo, you're always a great help! :)

  6. Hi, I am wondering whether a pair of yellow SHs would change their color in a dark tank with a black background and black sand.

I am planning a dark tank concept because I like the contrast effect of the yellow SHs standing out from a dark/black background. My only worry is whether the SHs would change their yellow color to dark or black colors to camouflage themselves. If they do, then I'll drop this idea since it would be hard to see them in the tank.

    Does any one know? Thanks!!!

  7. Hi, I have a frd with some dry corals and a fake coral (long time ago bot in US) looks like a staghorn formation. Dry ones is acropora. One whole box $500. If u want can sms 96415607. But u want per piece also can about $30-$50 per piece. The owner give up marine hobby long time ago. (FOWLR) But all are large sizes.

Actually, I'm looking for the fake ones, not dried ones. Thanks anyway!
