  1. Specification:

Algae Scrubber ( suitable for 2 feet cube tank)

    Length: 1 feet plus

    See attached for details.

(any experience algae scrubber can chip in comments as well.. )

Those keen, kindly PM me your contact, will arrange to meet up and go down on Friday morning.

    Location: Kaki Bukit areas.

Frankly, if I am to DIY, I will likely skip the additional black acrylics and paint those parts black (those on the side especially). Acrylic are not cheap and precise engineering cost even more. A bro here was telling me a popular Acrylic shop charges a few dollars for every holes drilled, can't imagine how much they will charge for precise engineering. You are likely to end up paying a lot more than you expected.

My concern will probably be on the joints, you do not want the box to leak or even break apart and seawater flooding your house. Both bro stevenkoh and myself have children at home which may explain why we are less adventurous, the reason why we opt for laser cut and water proofed joints done up by the professionals. I won't clean up a salt water soaked house for $150 for sure......... and not forgetting all the other risks your loves ones will be facing, such as electrical hazards (the light sets are so near to water source) etc.

    Humble thoughts.

PS: Go the SantaMonica's thread, I remember he designed a nano scrubber :)

  2. Screen

I got my screen from Artfriends Takashimaya. It's use for stitching or something, about an A4 size netting. I cut it into half and use both, cleaning one of them every 3-4 days. Just a few dollars.

PS: Just realised I could not edit my own post... lol...

  4. okay, wah tioman!? LOL surprise! hahaha, but malaysian govt closing down on tioman alr. not as accessible as before. hurhur.

so both same same uh? piangzz. like not much options. hahaha anything to push me towards aur or dayang? as in some additional clause ie bikini babes etc? LOLOLOL

Go Bali lor, last time I went there, a lot of nudis :groupwavereversed: :groupwavereversed:

  5. Going for this open water course by my school's diving club.

They have 2 options on 2 separate dates: so AUR or Dayang is better for coral diversity?

I want to see SHARKS! LOL! :D

They are about same lar. Can swim across in fact... where you diving depends on you dive group. What you can see depends on luck..

A friend of mine took open water in Tioman saw Manta, took Advance few months later see whale shark.... I went there a few times and still see nothing.... :pirate::pirate::pirate:

  6. Some house (like mine) the MCB is at 30A for living room while the bed room is at 20A.

For example, MCB for living room is at 30A.

It means all electrical applicances in the living room should not exceed 30A of usage.

However, the TS concern is the individual socket which is limited by the 13A plug as mentioned by Goondoo, not by the MCB.

Thus all applicances to the socket (thru the extension cord) should not exceed 13A.

Not to worry though, so long total power does not exceed ~2800W should be fine (based on Power = Volts x Current).

Any electrical guy to confirm if my AC power calculation is correct?

Cos i based on my previous knowledge from school.

I remember the MCB do not exceed 20A in normal household.

6A for lighting and ceiling fans,

16A for air-con compressors (water heaters too IIRC),

    20A for general sockets.

  7. An approved plug/extension should be able to handle a total load of (230x13) = 2990W safely.

If you are "kiasi" like me, adding another factor of 70%, it should still be able to handle 2093W easily.

On the other hand, it is not easy to determine the load. Some loads (especially motors, such as hand drills) can use up to 6 times or more power during start up.

    Bro,

You want me to transfer to you now or later? Thanks!

  9. Hi guys,

I read from earlier thread that alloable amphere per socket is 13Amp.

Is this the limitation for all HDB flat? My flat is 20+ yrs old.

As there is only 1 main socket near my tank, all required power is drawn from that one source with the aid of extension cords.

Any information is much appreciated :thanks:

the 13A limit is on the plug. Your household MCB should be 20A.

  10. Dear all bros and sis,

I had stopped the tank for 4 yrs liao and now with my new home ready, my tots on the tank came back again.

Pls help to discourage me from starting.. i getting crazy when i think of my ex flame angel and AT swimming...

Seems like I am the only one genuinely trying to help you break free from reefing.... I have specially concocted a very effective therapy for you. :friends:

I had just PMed you my POSB Saving Account number. Every time you feel like starting a tank, just log in to all your bank accounts and transfer every cents to me. This will prevent you from buying anything unnecessary

If you fail to do that.....

    Welcome back!

  11. From Fish Street???

Mine from Fish-street recently went kuku.

The first socket won't turn on although the red LED on the socket is lit. I need to manually do a all on, auto , then it will turn on.

I contacted Fish-street and they say they will send me a replacement :)... Still waiting....

  12. Bro enseng,

I only do the coordination if you all is agreeable to it and I can get at least 5 sets. Since it is not profitable (besides the zoos :P), you will have to transfer me the monies one it is confirmed.

I will also not upload any quotation & invoice online hor.... after I see the confirmation, all will go by email/pm liao.... One time pain enough liao.... :eyeblur::eyeblur:

  13. Hi bro gondoo,

Yes, e price is quoted as $115 based on the drawing from santa Monica. Did u modify a lot from it? As mentioned by e maker, I can't use ur drawing as this is their policy not to reuse customer drawing unless it is ordered by the orgininator. See below from their reply, can help on this? :thanks:

"It will be at $115 each for 10 pcs not $100.

For the drawing, I will not be able to use for your order as it belongs to another customer.

Our company will not release/ reuse the drawing of my customers unless it's ordered by the same person.

Thus if you would like to confirm, I would require you to bring down your set of drawing and specs.

Thank you for your attention & kind understanding."

As for e different sizes, they will charge higher price so I think it'd better we stick to the 2ft length. See below for e reply.

"If you would like to have 2 different lengths, it possible but there will be a price adjustment.

If based on MOQ of 5 each for different length, the price will be @ $130 each.

Hope the above clarifies. Thank you!"

I have a lots of algae, that's why need this algae scrubber

Yes bro, there is quite a few size changes, especially to hold the light alignment part, the original box was design to hold Nova lights. rolleyes.gif

Based on the previous design, there are also water proofing, extra acrylic strips to hold the lights in place, an outflow tube instead of buying extra bulk head (thats what SM is using, and bulk head not cheap also hor)....

Like I say, the price of my design is between $130-$140, (need to finalize with him).

If you guys want to design yourself (use other light set etc), then no need me to coordinate liao lor.... cheers.gif

Last time I spoke to him (after I got screwed), price will be around the same for smaller dimension... if I place the order, if you guys order, please don't quote me again hor, don't get me screwed again... lol...friends.gif

PS: Those getting small size ones might need to bring the light set down to them for precise measurements. The previous measurements are all done based on Aquazonic light set, in fact we met quite a few times to get the measurement correct.... online2long.gif

  14. for this bro goondoo who is also doing the liaison but price wise i can said it cheap already..

think it not nice to bargain anymore, but always can get a better quote from else where

Just for general info, the next cheapest quote to make 10 sets of ATS box is $160 each. I got about 6-7 other quotes before decided to use my friend.

I had spoke to him about your requests to make 1.5ft or even 1 feet ATS. He say price will be same or slightly higher depending on the dimensions of the lights set.

Please bear in mind that the machinery used, chemicals and workmanships cost more than actual material in such customization. As far as I heard from him, the laser machine already cost millions (IIRC), need to use water proof weld on chemical, fixing pieces by pieces by hand and not forgetting running flow test for every single box they make. My previous design also includes a 50mm out flow acrylic pipe instead of gluing the PVC pipe yourself.

    IMG_0029.jpg

I remember he told me cheapest possible based on my previous design he can give is between 130-140 (after GST), If they really can give you $115... my turn to screw him liao.... muahahahahaaaaa

If you guys seriously want cheap, I think DIY is really the way to go.

I can help you guys consolidate the orders. But I will charge you all a small frag of zoos each :P...
