  1. Happened to my octo and Gonipora when I had my first tank

believe its a natural reaction to a shock/ constant disturbance or stressful

conditions. the individual polips eject themselves to get away and hopefully drift

    somewhere else more hospitable.

  2. Did you rinse with hard water before using it?

Singapore tap water is not considered hard water. add abit of Sodium Bicarbonate and Calcium Carbonate then rinse the resin about 5 times I believe.

I tested my nitra lock... doesn't seem to soak up magnisium....

used a new packet added MgS04 to to bucket of recently changeg tank water and dropped in the resin...

only like dropped 20ppm for a 12 liter pail...

  3. Not really effective if system still has ich trace and you used medication to cure fish.

Using medication means less resistance build up.

What you can do to help the fish build resistance and survive is

    - Reduce sg level to 1.21 - 1.23 (help the fish to save energy from clearing salt)

    - Keep temp cold at 24-26 deg (reduce parsite metabolism and increase oxygen level)

    - Keep water clean and stable (less stress to fish)

    - have some Cleaner Shrimp to reduce parasite load on the fish body

    - run UV sterilizer or Ozone to help reduce parasite load in water.(Important if system has alot of fish as free floating parasite can be alot)

    - Have sand cleaners like Black Sea Cucumbers that engulf the sand to disgest organic matter. this help to reduce the ice cysts that go into the sand to multiply.

    - feed some garlic soaked food to fish to help feeding and resistance.

Then again if you have no inverts you can nuke the system with copper...

  4. Kalk will not completely dissolve usually. you can make more of it dissolve by adding some vinegar in water.

but then you really want the kalk to presipitate any other impurities like phosphates

and other metals out of the tap water.

just drip the clear solution in and throw the residue away its better.

  5. That way it die to fast liao... I made sure they took 20 mins to die.... I dripped acid on tail going up to head... every 1 minute i drop one drop. I enjoyed every moment.

now what wrasse eat this worms again?

BTW I was so pissed that by the time i remembered to take a picture they were puddles of redisd brown goo.

But someone did take a picture of a worm that looks exactly like the ones infesting my tank.

  6. Noticed one of my Green Ricordias was missing from its rock today, All I found was a little stub of it on the rock.

I searched for it and found it under a rock ... pieces of it anyway and it was being eatten by a big bristle worm!

I tryed to catch it but it retreated into the rock. good thin was the rock was a loose rock... took it dip with fresh water... still din't come out. o I used hammer and found 2 worms inside

I was very very pissed I slowly dripped salacyclic acid on them and watch them struggle to death painfully.... slowly...

Unfortunately I still have more worms in my tank. I've used traps and tryed catching them by red light... no avail unless they are in loose rock which most have been removed to kill the worms inside.

anyone have anymore Ideas? on natural bristle worm preydators or catching technics?

  7. You know After I started adding Kalk to tap water 2 years back. It din't take me long to invest in a distiller. have you seen the brownish residue after adding Kalk

anyway I drink water I distill and use it for my tank too now.
