  1. Maybe I blur but I cant seem to find the address or web site of the sponsors listed in the forums? Could somebody please point me int he right direction. Thnx
  2. Can anyone tell me if it's easy to add or remove baffles to a sump? I'm thinking of making some changes to the compartments in my Sump. Would be advised to go to a sump maker or even by new sump? Cheers
  3. Thanks for the advice Riot. Why do you say "Screen your return pump so you wont get choked with debris". If my return pump fits in the middle section, then surely it wont get choked from debri in the refuge? I was under the impression that the Refugium consisted of DSB, Live rocks and macro algae? Which I would have planned to keep in the 11.5 inch section. As for the tee off, I assumed that I can simply split the existing overflow 1.5" into two pipes? Can? Thanks again.
  4. I found this design on reef central. Do you think it would work for my existing Sump?
  5. Woudl you advise leaving out BIO balls from the IOS and leaving just a layer of wool? From the dimensions of my Sump, is it possible to setup a refugium? Thanks
  6. Would really appreciate any of you experts giving advice on how you should configure the sump + equipment etc. Are there any benifits in hosting the Skimmer outside of the sump? Is it worth while me drilling a hole and hosting the return pump outside the sump so I dont warm up the water? Thanks
  7. I've recently brought a tank & sump from a fellow reefer and I'm looking for any expert opinion on the best way to utilise the sump and IOS? I eventually plan to maintain corals and I've heard that BIO balls or other substances can build up Nitrates. I've also read that having a Refugium with Macro algae can reduce the Nitrates. I'm not sure if the design of my Sump will allow for a DSB or refugium and whether it's possible to make physical alterations etc? Your advise on how you would configure is appreciated.
  8. Thanks for the advice, I know I can easily get a couple of fans to cool by a couple of degrees but i didnt want to have to top up every day is possible? Are bubble tips any easier to maintain in such conditions?
  9. My tank is running at around 29 C. Is it possible to maintain soft corals at this temp? If yes, can anyone suggest something colourfull that I could get start with. Thanks
  10. Can you post pictures of your tanks, cabinet and Sump please
  11. Let me know if your prism is still availble please.
  12. Eric, What model Needlewheel would you recommend?
  13. Do you know if Marine Life is stocking the Remora?
  14. I have a 2ft Nano tank (fish only), with a ViaAqua multiskimmer. I'm looking to replace it and believe the Aqua C Remora is a better choice. Would I still need to get another filter or would the skimmer be sufficient on it's own?
  15. Thanks for your replies. Would you recommend I use Kalkwasser as a buffer?
  16. Confused now!! Just added a small amount of baking soda to the salt water mix and check the PH level. Now it read 7.4! Ive going to mix a fresh bactch of water but in case I cant get hold of any Kalkwasser today can anybody help me by explaining what I might have done wrong? Thanks
  17. Just tested a 2 gallon batch of distilled water Ive had mixing over night and the PH is 7.8 Can anyone tell me what kind of measurements of baking soda I need to use to bring the tank up from 7.8 to 8.0? Tank capacity is 18 Gallons Thanks
  18. Ive been topping up with distilled water and using it for my water changes. Ive notice that my PH level has dropped to 7.8. Can anyone recommend a way to bring that back to 8.2 and what should I be doing in the future to prevent it dropping? I wont be able to get to a LFS shop till Monday so I hope my situation is not that serious that I need to get the baking soda out? My tank is a Nano 2ft & I have a partial Coral Sand Bed. Does the Distilled water cause the PH to drop? Thanks
  19. Ca anyone recommend a The AquaC Remora? I guess it's pricy but must be better than Via Aqua?
  20. Anybody know why i can leave it skimming then 5 minitues later it not even ###### up water?
  21. I brough this multi skimmer a month ago and it was skimming ok from what I could see. The problem is it's kinda stopped now. Ive made sure the water levels are high enough. Tried adjusting the intake tube, the Variable Venturi and the water flow rate but it either, over flows the filter, skims but not very well and then sometimes it just stops pumping altogether and I have to prime it again. I'm going to replace the carbo filter to make sure this is not the cause, but if anyone has any pointers on the best way to set this filter up I'd appreciate it? Also can anyone tell me if there are any better alternatives to the ViaAqua multi skimmer? (I have no sump and not much space) Anyone know where I can buy replacement filters also? Thanks
  22. Can anyone recommend any LFS nearest to Holland road? Ive been to one in Alexandra Village but wasnt so keen on that? Thanks
