  1. Once again need some advice from the expert bros :P

Bought a PH monitor put probe in tank meter showed 7.7. Added Kent Marine KH buffer 3-4 teaspoons mixed with water. After added twice over 2 days it raise to 8.1. However, addded 3 more times (same dosage) but still at 8.1. Any bros know the reason?

Mine is 5x1.5x2 ft. Fish with corals. With a 3ft sump, H&S skimmer, Rowa phos, PureII and Polyfilters.

  2. The PH level will drop once the lights are off at nite. Want to learn from expert bros out there how do you guys maintain the PH level at nite assuming no CR is used. Do u keep a smaller light switched on above the sump set to alternate with the main tank lights? Or do u dose small amt of KH buffer at nite? All advise are welcome. Thanks in advance.

  3. According to one LFS in Balestier, there is this arogonite (spelling maybe wrong) chips which is better than coral chips to help maintain Calcium level. It is said to dissolved slowly in water. Whereas coral chips will not and turn dirty. It is quite expensive. Wonder if any bros have used it before. Konw CR is the ultimate but decided not to keep SPS so wont be geting it. Any opinions and advice are welcome. Thanks!

  4. Hi bros, know tis is a debatable topics but would like to know which brands fellow reefers are using. The price ranges of pdts out there are like from Changi to Tuas. I am looking for value for money ones that produce good results. Just place your advice below. Thanks ya! Additives in mind are:

    1) Trace elements

    2)Calcium and KH supplements

    3) Liquid food for corals

  5. Hi bro, I had one Majestic Angel very fat and beautiful like the one in the pics. But it treats coral as food not frens. It will nip at sides of hammer, octopus, and wack elegance and jewels like nobody's business! I had to give it up for the sake of my corals. All angels are not risk safe, but if you are lucky can try Regal or Flame. My 2 cents worth. All the best ya!

  6. Thanks bro Blenny. Know a CA reactor is the ultimate choice. But it is ex man! On the contrary if I get one, no more wife to spend time with me liao :D Anyway meddling with the tank is my way of de-stressing. I am trying to achieve a "low tech" reef tank read in one magazine. If I remember correctly that chap managed to keep a huge tank crowded with mainly LPS and some SPS and some reef safe fishes only with a skimmer, water change and adding trace elements. That chap is from Australia or US. Wonder if any bros here achieved low-tech big reef tank and care to share?

  7. Just want to check around with other reefers how you guys maintain your KH and calcium level and I have the following qns:

Using Kalk? Once a week, I mixed 1 teaspoon with water, let the residue settle down, and drip the clear mix into my 5 ft tank. But fishses dun seem to be able to take it. White powdery spots on body. Doctor fish disappeared.

Dose Part A & B? What brand is cheap and good?

CA reactor? - can it be used without CO tank? I am afraid of the tank exploding because got kids at home. Will Ca reactor also help to maintain KH?

    Thanks!
