  1. they eat twice a day.

cut fish, cut prawns, cut squid.

theres a total of 3pcs of captive born baby pompilus right now in the hatching tank.

more then 30 eggs are incubating as we speak.

they are soooo sweet, u bet.

  2. the price of weedy's have gone up in the last few years

with permits and everything in, 2-3k per animal.

they prefer live food. frozen mysis will just rot in the water unless u keep them in suspension. they should be fed at least twice a day. taller tanks are better for them, they don't need huge tanks, it's more difficult to feed them in bigger tnks. too much aquascape is also bad for them cuz they might get cuts and might suffer from infection. they are very pron to micro bacterium attacks and thus fresh water dips once a month is better for their health for long term. temperature should be maintain at 16-18 degrees to reduce metabolic rate so as to reduce food intake. ;)

pls leave this animals in the wild and public aquariums

  3. for those that want to keep nautilus at home.

if u can meet their requirements, do it.

if u can't, don't even think about it.

its not for beginners and even pros, will have a hard time maintening the water parameters, not the animals itself.

temperature alone will cost u a boom to maintain, they do best at 15-18 degrees C

condensation from the tank will make u mop the floors 5 times a day just like islam prayer. unless u keep them in an aircon room at 18 degrees C and also run a chiller then both u and the animal will be really happy.

if u really like to look at this animals, go to a public aqaurium.

leave this beautiful animals to the Xperts ;)

    cheers

  4. nautilus can be kept in captivity, and is not difficult to keep them happy.

the most important element is temperature.

water quality needs to be excellent, with minimum flux of parameter.

diet is is also important for good growth, as they need lots of calcium.

the other important thing is lighting. too much and they suffer from eye infection this guys are nocturnal animals. lower wattage blue moon tubes are the best for them. this is are captive born baby nautilus. 1-2 months old. ;)

    u don't need a 2 tons tank to use a C200.

in fact my tank is only about 850liters.

when u have a high bioload, u will need more o3 just to keep it in range.

i'm now running 100mg O3 at 24/7 just to maintain redox at 300mv-360mv.

i'm shooting for 440mv, so if theres anybody out there selling this unit ,do contact me.

    thanx

One of the most important elements in a Reef Aquarium is Calcium(Ca). Your reef inhabitants just will not do well with Ca levels much below 400mg/l. The Addition of Lime Water (Kalkwasser) is a tried and trusted method of ensuring that calcium levels are maitained in your aquarium.

Calcium Hydroxide is dissolved in a separate tank by means of the water jet of the metering pump in the Osmolator 5002. The Kalkwasser is then released into the aquarium in small quantities at regular intervals.

NOTE: The Tunze Calcium Dispenser 5074 will only work in conjunction with a Tunze Osmoregulator, or any type of auto topup (tubby, etc).

The Calcium Dispenser 5074 can also be used in combination with the Calcium Automat. An especially well set pH stability is then acheived over a 24hr period.

The Tunze Calcium Dispenser 5074: Suitable for aquariums with Stony Corals up to 500 litres.

  10. that's the reason y i think it's a must to send the effluent into skimmer for degass or at least neutralize % of acid produced.( i'm already using the CR400 for buffering ) well there's always pros N cons, just like using Ca reactor, u will get PH reading on the lower side 7.8 to 8.2. i've got another Ca reactor just for Ca N kh but yet i still need to buffer with bicarbonate several X a wk. :(

  11. another view of the drip device.

i use the green valve to regulate how much flow goes out of the device.

the left unit (SR effluent) top valve needs to be close off so that no air gets suck into the P skimmer pump, i can also regulate the bottom valve for better control.

the right unit (CR effluent) has it's top valve open Bcuz it just flows into the sump, adjusting the bottom valve ,i can increase or decrease the amount of air that gets suck in from the top valve for degassing, also by increasing the length of the tubing it should help increase PH from the effluent, although i don't test the PH, in theory it should help a little.

i hope the the pic can explain the set up. i can't explain into that detail of the workings,

by studying the pics it will give u a clue on it's workings.

    have FUN :):)

oh ya... theres a plastic hard tube in the bottle connecting down to base of the bottle

u can always remove your deni balls and fill it up with Sulphur beads and Calcium carbonate chips/aragonite. then u'll have a sulphur base dinitrater capable of supporting at least 6-8 ft tank.:shock:

i did think of using the CR 1000 / NR1000 for this purpose, but the unit too huge to fit into my already full cabinet. :( space is a commodity )
