Yes the algae usually grow on the side that faces window but not actually direct sun. What do you mean about rocks leeching no3 and how to tackle the issue?my rocks already with me for 7years.
I used to have sea urchin and it was very effective in cleaning the algae but suddenly all the spikes drop off and became bald.

Forgot to mention that i always have red slime algae(on rocks) + green algae(on glass tank) issue despite min fishes and bare bottom.
When that happens does that mean my no3 and po4 are high?Have not done water testing for awhile though. Sometimes i can see bubbles floating out from rocks.

Bio sphere/any similiar product VS chaetos/algae scrubber.
Wonder between the two mentioned above , which one is consider most economical($$$) + effective + easiest to maintain?
I'm not considering chemical product bcos find it expensive and not very practical especially for ppl with busy schedule.
My tank info:
-6 x 2 x 2.5 with sump 4 x 2 x 2
-deltec 702 skimmer
-T5 lights(6tubes-80watts/tube) and will chg to zetlight in near future
-Lps and soft corals and live rocks with bare bottom
-Artica chiller
-01 purple tang + 02 wrasse + 02 damsels
-using nsw for water changing
Thanks for advise.

I'm looking for the easiest and most economical way to keep lps. I tried salt mix before and find it very tedious especially for my tank size. I tried dosing supplements and various kind of addictives and do water parameter test but after awhile find it not practical + lazy.I even tried refugium but after awhile too find it very messy and the electric bill keeps going higher(haven't even mention the heat from light) So back to my first question , if I do nsw change often will it be gd enough with sufficient lighting timing? Thanks in advance.

Good evening. May I re-confirm that if I use nsw for my water change and I do it every 2-3 week once(50%) it's good for my lps even without any top up of vit or supplement? The most is smtm I'll top up with iwarna top up. My current set up: 6 x 2 x 2.5 with sump of 4 x 2 x 2. Deltec 702 Twin fr:sorb 4 and bio sphere Arnica chiller-26.5 6T5 x 80w(will be changing to zetlight in coming mth) Overflow:bacteria king + bio sphere Fishes:01 purple tang + 01 6line wrasse + 02damsel + mixture of Lps

Hi guys. If you want to get separately try marinelife. I just bought fuel & genesis today. On top of that i also bought bio sphere. My no 1concern is no3 & po4. As i just started keeping lps , decided not to try the plus & acid yet cos my corals are not the high end one. Cheers

No3 and Po4 control method? Most economical+effective?

When i first started 7 years ago i had puka shell as my sand bed and before i removed them its was like no3 factory. So muddy and dirty. So i thought after removing the sandbed and went bare bottom my no3 or po4 issue will be gone or at least no more red slime algae.
