  3. my lawnmower blenny died 2 days ago..after abt 4-5 months in my tank....so sad... no algae for it to graze on...and it doesn't seem to eat the fish food that i feed to my other fishes until it got so skinny (and hungry) and decided to try the flakes out..but i think too late man...haiz...but it sure did an excellent job when i had some algae bloom a few months back....in memory.....

    Hi

  4. do u feed it?

sometimes it's hungry.... esp when u do not hav strong lights

wat i did was to feed a very small piece cut from a market prawn n feed once a week....

    Hi Clownfish

I have no experience of feeding anemone, how can I feed them? is it just by cutting a small piece of prawn and throw it near the anemone? hope u can advise. Thanks

  5. I have checked, for Weipro bracket type, 3 feet one comes with 2x150W MH. 4 feet one comes with 2x150W and there is a PL actinic at centre. The LFS I visited allow you to change the bulb type, off cos the price varies accordingly. There is also hang up type from weipro, the 3 feet hangon type has 2x150W MH and two FL actinic tube lying across the full length at 2 sides.

    Hi

Which LFS, interested to take a look!

    Thanks

  6. Hi folks,

A lot of people get stumped when the word 'Nori' is mentioned.

It's a common ingredient in our daily lives, especially here in Asia. It's simply dried seaweed.

It's used for soups, noodle dishes, sushi and even confectionary (not really the same kind we should feed our fishes).

Nori can come as dried seaweed clumps (these are found in the Dried Goods or Condiments section) or they can be rolled flat and are usually baked or roasted (such as found in the confectionary section in supermarts).

Tangs love to eat Nori as would other seaweed eating fishes... some cardinals are known to eat Nori too. I had a flame angel who ate nori too.

Here's a common brand under which Nori is packed and sold in NTUC supermarket. I think its only 90 cents to a dollar for one packet. And it will last a very long time!

    noripacket2.jpg

It's the purple seaweed variety. Haven't seen the green variety around. When you soak it in water long enough, the water will turn purplish red. Sometimes I soak my nori in garlic juice before feeding my tangs.

    nori.jpg

It's dried and crispy, easily broken into small pieces. Once soaked in water, they will become soft and break apart when the tangs rip it apart. It does take some time for nori to become soft enough to break apart so you'll see your tangs doing a tug-of-war with each other or the clip!

Well, hope that solves the mystery for some of you... it's more familiar than you think... go grocery shopping more often with your mamma or wifey!

  8. Hi the moonlight on sale now reminded me of the old post of DIY LED Moonlights, anyone know how to go about making one? like if using 12 V, what's the correct resistor to use to connect in series with each LED assuming all the LEDS are connected in parallel?

Are u using the normal type of LED? There are some very bright blue LED in the

market but yet to know wat this LED called and is it suitable for aquarium application? If u have the right type, please pm me. I'm interested to make one.

    thanks.
