Hi Scarab, do you use carbon at the output of the skimmer ? Is it nec ? According to Julian Sprung's book pg 131 ( don't know has it been proven wrong yet) "Ozone was originally suggested to increase skimmer efficiency, but when larger amount is used, many of the organics usually extracted become oxidized into other forms that are more resistant to removal. Common symptoms of excessive ozone use are a dramatic drop in skimmer output, much lighter coloured effluent."

is that a new skimmer ? new skimmer need a few days to run in before it can skim so as to remove substances such as oil from manufacting...

I think your skimmer is probably removing the chemical you just added, and will stop once all the chemical is remove, by tuning your skimmer now will reduce its efficiency, so its your call if you wan the coating to be there any longer, or you want the skimmer to run properly... same thing happen to my skimmer when i change water with too much chlorine removal that has coating for fish.... my two cents.

If it is cyano, my guess is it probably will hurt the lie stocks... If it grows on on your coral, it might irritates them , some fish will lost apetite after accidently feed on them and starve to die.. my two cents...

i am using the above CR, but recently, the water level inside the chamber falls low...much lower than before where the level almost occuped the while chamber... I am wondering if it is the problem with the eheim pumps? the medium ? I am running the jet stream at a bubble every 2 seconds.. thank you in advance !

tried using a sponge or foam at the output ? it should work to reduce the turbulence and foam.. my two cents...
