  1. Been use for 2 years, now have to make way for other plan. come with free #0 sands.. return pump is weipro WH 7000. Note: 1. The sump crack initially when it arrive as I itchy hand try to modified the sump, but sealed up with siicon un-professionally, no leak for two years. Jut ugly. 2. Lots of algae growth coraline and other on glass, scraper not included. The catch: 1. Arrange your own transport and setup. 2. View to confirm, no reservation Condition: Must clear by next week Monday to Wednesday. I will try to find a pic for it, meanwhile, if you are intersted to view , pls PM me. The tank would be emptied by this weekend. cheers !
  2. Hey bro, Don't let the silly practical boss ruin such an happy occasion ! Right now, all you should do is the enjoy the joy of the first born, and focus on all you need to do... like worrying sick.. we can't decide for others how they think, but we can sure choose how to react... who knows the boss would discover his own conscience later ? Congratulation !
  3. Hi Clammy, Nice cuttlefish ! Which wreck did you go ? I am going to Kuantan wreck this weekend, hopefully the strobe can come back in time from service.
  4. 0.5 swing sounds like alot to me... high KH reduce swing, you can consider... my two cents.
  5. maybe you can re-consider re-working on the background wall paper to get rid of the bubbles ?
  6. I have been dosing sugar and now all my cabinet is full of ants !! Help !! kidding.. nice work bro lizard, hope we can develop a scientific method in sugar dosing fomula in the near future... Quote ideally less than 3 for most LPS and LS is a must-have. How did you derive at that ? As I know Many beautiful tanks with LPS(growing) has nitrate much more than that level...
  7. thats really your choice If you have occasion and expecting guests at hom, and want your tank to look nice quick, then you can consider using it as a fast solution. As what the articles from SeaChem suggest on using UV and never use red slime remover because that would kill many algae and baterial,.. I don't know how using UV would not kills the "good" baterial but only the harmful ones...maybe because seachem don't have red-slime removing product ? otherwise try to improve the water quality like what bro gouldian suggest, and you can monitor the improvement My two cents worth...
  8. Excellant review ! Very objective and neutral. Thank you !
  9. A "quick fix" would be using the red-slime remover. Its an effective quick fix, however , if condition is not improve, the cyano would return in a matter of time.
  10. What jd_n meant by mirror is to hang a mirror next to your tank, and the aggressive one would be busy fighting his own image and leave the new tang a break, not recape... and it work !
  11. Can over chilling the tank cause tank to break ? and over chilling is like how much chiller ?
  12. haha.. thats a good one, before you consult your psychiatrist or jump, maybe you should consider talking to CASE who knows you might be compensated...too ! 600 for tank and 15K for equipement is too much....
  13. Gosh, did the report mention who is the maker ? what causes the crack ? If they are really awarded I think next time we want to make a tank we must sign legal documents we can't hold tank maker liable for any problem.....
  14. Read somewhere that many men say that their lovers are their best friends... just hope they are humping the correct species....
  15. human will naturally cared more for creatures that possess qualities that we can relate to, thats nature. And to begin with, dogs are creation of human though selective breeding, customised to be "man best friend" how can we not cared more for them ? there are easier way to bring attention of public to care more for sharks instead of training them to do hoop ( in fact i think thats even more cruel). Just stop eating sharkfins and show them how the sharks are killed just for their fins can is a start.
  16. The impact of lost of precious reef lives by reef keeping is minor compared to what has been done by fishing industries, or industrialisation. If losing of these precious lifes stirred negative reaction, maybe we should consider diverting some of energy to be a green peace activities . But if the frustration is targeted because of the impact it made on the local reefing community like driving up the price of LS , making nice LS less abundant, then yeah its is indeed frustating to watch what could have flourish in my tank now dying in others If Darwin were to stick with the thousand years of unquestionable theory of all lifes are created by god in a perfect manner (during his time, in his society) ( nothing to do with religon , but just for argument sake), we won't have the theory of evolution. If Newton would do the same, we probably still think that Sun revolve around the earth. My point is that, these great discoveries and many more are done becase these people dare to venture out of the conventional thinking, against what everyone thinks is right, with that idea, they prove their point with experimentation. So I think accepting what others already establish doesn't move us forward or backward, but doing something is is not yet established is a chance to move forward.
  17. but it comes with a pictures showing clams and soft corals ... ... they didn't mention water too did they ?
  18. I am looking for 2 units of 5 feet blue PL light, anyone know who carries them ? Thanks in advance !
  19. Didn't know there is another thread here about the article : shoelevy : bravo Hope the journalists read your mail and do their homework next time before publishing another irresponsible/misleading article in our main-stream news media.
  20. the article was first explaing what bio balls with baterials do, then praising how the the tank can go on for a year without changing water itself is very misleading. not only addictive , how about the constant chemical war the coral wage among each other to fight for space, that require water change to get rid of , unless the species are selected correctly. I think for FOWLR setup or selected species reefs tank , it is possible to go without changing water if you can solve the nitrate export problem.
  21. Its amazing, they need to build a "prototype" to use bio ball... as if bio balls are their inventions... The whole story is about one year without changing water... lazy article with little reseach done and misleading information ... ... How about trying to put a lecturer in the sewage and do a story about it if he survive to walk out a year later.
  22. Wouldn't care for other things to do after the first dip in the water The coral and marine lifes there are rich when I was there about 8 months ago... nice snorking and diving sites.... plenty of residents eels, sharks and trigger just by the shore..
  23. The time you measure pH is also very important, as it fluctuate throughout the cycle... if 8.5 is measured near the end of your light cycle, then its probably not so much of a concern, but if 8.5 is measured before your lighting start, by the time your light turns on long enough, your pH might be too high..... Try to meaure the pH before and after the light goes on to get a complete picture of PH of your tank.... Agree with Reef Bum that don't need to add anything to decrease it, just stop adding anything that can increase it to let it falls naturally... Oh and calibration is important.... my two cents...
  24. Item Reserved, thread close. Thanks for viewing !
