I am thinking of replacing my existing sump tank with a DSB sump tank. My current tank is 3 feet tall. I am not sure if I should go for a 2 feet DSB sump and add in calcium reactor but am open to your design. If you have Live Sand, that will be good too.

Thanks. I will be doing some shopping soon.

Thanks. Can you tell me what you put in the 1st compartment ? I saw filter wool at the top and the bottom ?

I think the person who did my system is a Berlin system - Live Rocks with PS. It also comes with bio-homes and coral chips. Attached is a word doc draft of my sump that I draw. If I want to convert it to a DSB system, can this be done ? Can I use the 2nd compartment for DSB ? sump.doc

I am also looking for Brain Worm Platygyra Coral
-
Clementi.

It is still up for sale. Can view before buying. Have to arrange for self-collect. If you have a station wagon, or 7 seater car, it may be able to fit in.

Thanks

Good advice. I have a 150W MH light and a chiller. Currently, I have a few range of corals - soft and hard but no SPS. I am looking for smaller corals to fill in the "gap" between some of my corals and also "noodles" corals or pumping xenia to fill my background stack behind the rock and near the pump oulet.

Just put in pic

I am looking for some corals - if you are selling and in good conditions, please pm me with price and name of corals (photos will be good). I will need to check on the net on the care of the corals prior to buying it. Just wanna to be a good reefer.

For those who are interested into taking another hobby into Koi. I have a slate stone koi pond for sale. Fiber Glass Tank is a S-shape slate stone 5.25ft x 3 ft x 2.5ft comes in-built filter and I will include 4 kois, filter materials, pump, lightings. I bought @ $1500 but will be selling it for $300 neg. I will throw in bio-balls, a large bag of garden stones, garden wooden covers, filter materials. Reason for selling, I got 2 Fiber Glass tank as well as a Marine tank and will have to clear room.

Ok...with the advice armed, I removed my bio-balls in my overflow as as well as the first chamber. But after removing them when I turn back the pump, the overflow water into the overflow compartment is quite loud, (like waterfall sound). I have an arcylic plastic with small holes acting as a drip plate that allow water to seep down but not large object. How do I reduce the noise ?

I upgrade my Sander's PS to shunran (again can't get spelling correct). I can sell you my sander together with the pump. PM me.

ai[k²]wan, OK. I am interested to know more. Let re-visit your drawing again. If I place macroalgae, how do I get the lighting in there for the plants ? All to coment, In this forum, many people says that bio-balls and coral chips don't help but does this only applies to a DSB system only. If I am not wrong, someone told me that bio-balls help increase water contact to air --> increase cycle --> increase No-3. The person who got my system did this system...bio-balls in overflow, etc... The only positive result I see is that when I do heavy load, the bio-filter is able to take it ... Comments and feedback welcome.

Vincegoh, I have similar design like yours. A DSB in main tank and a slump at the bottom. I have wanted to convert to a refugium but the design of the slump was not meant for it. In my present slump, I have a overflow with bio-balls, 1st compartment -corals chips, filter mats, bio-homes, 2nd compartment - LR, polyfilter, charcoal, denitrator, 3rd compartment, PS, UV lights plus pumps. Anyway, I have added in Seachem Denitrator and another brand oglone (can't remember the spelling) and NO-3 does decrease a bit. At the moment, it stay hovers between 5ppm - 10ppm. However, the denitrator will cost more than water changes alone (salt + water + declorine), hence, I still do water change forthnightly at 10%. Maybe we can discuss our system as we have similar type.

Can you tell us what is your fitration in your sump like ? any denitrator ?

Me interested too

It does not move but it open up like a clam

same here...T95 where r u ?

I found this in my tank when I shifted some LR. I took it out and isolate it in a container. Any idea ? I suspect it is a wild mussle. It has a "spike-like hair" around the shell. Is it Reef and Fish safe ?
