  1. hahaha...did u buy it when it's small ? think u need some time to tame it...how long did u keep it ? My coral banded at first was very fierce and it ate up one of my cleaner... but after i keep on adding cleaner the proper way and letting them to adjust to the environment... soon i see that my coral banded shrimp are together with my cleaners.. very nice scene.. best is that i witness my coral banded cleaning my tang... hahaha...after all it's a cleaner shrimp too but they only clean big fishes... If u witness a coral banded shrimp cleaning during captive time, it's rare and it's really fortunate for u... so just keep on trying...maybe can add in more cleaners... it's like...when u are the biggest around, u rule the place but when the small form a group, u will retreat to ur own cave. Cheers. good luck.
  2. hi. iodine exist ion two form...one is iodine and the other one is iodide. our focus today is on iodine... first of all, iodine is used by humans for disinfection purposes.. when u are injured, the nurse will put some iodine(yellow solution) on ur wound to disinfect before dressing it... so basically it's the same for corals... there are many other ways to disinfect...like formalin...methyl blue....blah blah blah but iodine is the safest way to do it. but dun use the one which is mend for humans becos of the unknown concentration.. thanks.
  3. most of them are small in size...u just need to go search around. cucumber is poisonous but if handle with extra care will be alright... i'm only just giving u some options. good luck.
  4. maybe a sand-sifter star will do. sand-sifter star, sea cucumber or blenny...
  5. one way is to use a hang-on filter to set up a refugium..it doesn't look nice at the side.. maybe u can hide it.. or just convert a hang-on power filter to become a refugium.
  6. Hey guys, anyone know where to get mud substrate ? cos i'm going to create a mangrove filter system soon..so need to know where to get them, thanks. i know one way is to go mangrove to dig for mud...but not a good method. thanks.
  7. hhahaha...mandarin is the same as dragonet but just another common name. Oic...ya...normally they will jump out of tank if really cannot stand the stress and bullying going on in the tank... yup...arowana can jump one..hahaha..they are slow but are strong fishes...hahaha.. dragonet actually wun really jump la...it's really very peaceful fish...it will swim on my palm during feeding. and i can carry it to another tank by placing it on my palm... hahaha...but there are ppl who experienced it jumping... that's why i suggested that u look into the problem and find out the source... unless the fish is really super active or high on drugs, u wun have a problem of it flying...(unless it's a flying fish). CHEERS. good luck.
  8. hey, i am taking in all sick fishes, non-feeding fishes and sick ot injured corals. will buy it from u if u dun mind. thanks. Pm me or sms me at 81968903.
  9. o ? hahah. power...like that also can..hahah..small gap... rest in peace for all jumpers.
  10. call and sms u. let me know. thanks.
  11. they are basically poisonous for ur information. will release poison if disturb... i personally dun keep leathers becos of that... other than that, they are hardy corals as compare to others.
  12. 29C is around 80plus F. keep it at 75 to 79F... higher temperature can caused bleaching of corals...the zoo bacterias will died off and ur corals will lose coloration. use iodine solution for dipping...it has disinfecting effect. always made it a practise to dip new corals to prevent wild bacteria and pathnogens form entering ur tank. u can get seachem's coral dip, which is wat i am using...or lugol's solution... nv do a freshwater dip on corals...esp LPS...it's a sucidal act.. anything else u need to know ?
  13. hahaha... think it was kena disturb by ur clownfish. or it think that it's a flying fish or bird...hahaha.. Sorry for the death. Okay...these are the fishes which can fly... dragonet.. all gobies... all dartfishes.... all dottyback and pseudochromis... for dragonets and wrasses...actually they are not often a problem... there are ppl who encountered them flying out of their tank... look for the cause of six-lin death...stress ? environment ? bully ? not properly acclimated ? my tank is hoodless but dun seems to have a problem with six-line. so look for the cause first before pointing the finger at six-line. Once i did have my arowana jumping out and died on the floor because i forget to cover the lid... that's a worse experience...my baby...my money....CRY...
  14. no prob. anything just pm me. and u can share pictures of ur tank in the members' tank section. Have fun and good luck.
  15. thread closed...nobody wan then i keep for myself. If anyone still wan it, just contact me or else it will be in my refugium.. it's funny...think my refugium will be half fillef with sand...AMAZING.hahahah
  16. u can get it in LFS. From cheap ones to expensive ones...many brands to locally made. plankton is also micro-algae... Cheers. Have a nice day.
  17. powder blue and brown both require alot of space for them... and both are consider aggressive tangs. not recommend to put both in the same tank unless ur tank is big enough for both to coexist. but it doesn't seem so in ur case. especially wild capture marine life are more aggressive so they have plenty of space in the tank. I have seen many ppl collecting many types of tangs together and although i wun recommend doing so becos if u fail, then u will have alot of trouble catching them out of ur tank just like now. and again, it's up to individual fish...and i strongly agree the gender of the fish do play apart too but this has not ever been documented yet due to the fact that it's hard to diff. the gender. So some lucky chap may tell u that they can keep powder blue and brown together, it could be the case that one is female and one is male...It's just my hypothesis from my experience. Becos gender really play an important role in nature and only animals, which we can diff the gender, are documented. Try not to add two of a kind in ur tank. small color or look-alike is not recommended.will stir up a fight. look-alike(powder blue and brown) is more troublesome...colors can be solved by switching off ur lights for a few days to acclimate ur new stock. good luck.
  18. hahaha...the owner will kill u first. hahaha...can can..replace him with ur nice zoas..haha..
  19. includes fine grade and coral chips. becos i used to have DSB with diff. grade on top of diff grade so it's a mixed grade live sand. I dun know wat else u can find inside. hahaa...got some seashell...i have place it in a bucket already. best to wash it with ur own tank water when u bring home. UPZ
  20. How long has it been ? is it a new addition ? If so, the bacteria could have been with it all along but exhibit the sympton only when u add into ur tank. Or did it just show this sympton recently ? and recently did u add in any new stock ? it could be possible that ur new stock carry this bacteria with it and infect ur hammer. Due to bad practises, u can introduce pathogens and bad stuffs into ur water. normal practise is to dip new stock then quarantee before adding to main tank. if none of the above, something must be wrong with ur water parameters. Or the current. the current may be like that for 2 months but u may not notice it along until recently it get worse.that's one possibility. LPS can recover with proper care and nursing. recently i bought an injured moon from a reefer, went back and i did a dip for it. now it has recover and is happy in my tank. u should take out ur hammer and quarantee it or pass it to ur friends to look after it for u. or just sell it away.
  21. u can try to put in a trap or catch it with two nets. each hand with a net. one hand as a trigger to push force the fish to go to the other side. will work but try so patience. powder blue and powder brown cannot be together so next time be careful. Cheers.
  22. around 10kg of live sand for sale at $20. collection at tampines area. self-collection with ur own bucket. reason for selling : becos I am clearing my DSB and some of the sand is been transfered to the refugium. while the rest is spare out so thinking of letting it go. thanks. sms me at 81968903 for fast deal. or pm me. thanks. have a nice day.
