Green hair algae

Recommended Posts

Assuming I can't take out the piece of rock with green algae, shall I brush off the green hair algae?

or let it grow so that it will consume the nutrition and eventually, will it die off on its own when nutrition level becomes low?

Pick out as much as possible using pincers or fingers. Leaving them there will allow them to over run and spread. You could get some clean up crew like snails, crabs, urchins .... To control small outbreaks.

Check your nitrate and phosphate levels. They are responsible for the algae blooms. Algae spores will always be around (even in the air), do making sure of nutrient levels is the only way to prevent blooms.
