Topup water & Water Change

Hi all,

I'm setting up a 5ft SPS tank. Is it normal for me to topup around 12 litres of water every week roughly about 1 and a half big pail? And also necessary to do water change for my tank? i just put in 1 acropora and it seems to be ok after 2 weeks.

water change is a must. but not every week, however it depend on your bio load.

if you have alot of big fishes and feeding regularly, then i think is best to do 10-20% water change. this also depend on what equipement you have in your sump to control the water parameters.

SPS need good to ideal water parameters.

if you have very little live stock, you can even do water change like every 2-3 week.

Why do you need to top up so much water every week? due to water evaporation?
