how to encourage polyps extension for millepora?

Recommended Posts

hi all,

I bought 2 frags of milepora from cedric. They are growing but little polyps extension, what could be the reason? I have place them at high flow area. Rest of the corals, BN, true fiber, pocci, and some acro which i dont know the name have their polyps extension well. Btw encruting monti also growing without much polyps extension.

However, when lights off, polyps extension for millepora and monti is very good. How can i encourage polyps extension when lights on?

Thank you

Is it on random flow?

Hope u didn't put them on direct flow.

Or maybe u need them to settle down in ya tank for a few days n monitor progressively.

is random flow for sure. is been in my tank for weeks. it is encrusting to the bottom and growing.

Btw the true fiber optic from you has grown into a small colony, will show you a pic when available :yahoo:

Hmm....mabe you can try feeding w oyster eggs and see if can entice the PE.

Btw, what millepora you got from bro Ced?

Good to hear that the fiber optic frag is in good hands bro!!

Encrusting monti pe is very minimal unlike acros or the family of Stylophora and Seriatopora (birdnest family)

As for your millepora what did you purchase? Meaning Sunset Millie? Green Millie? Blue Millie?

I have a blue Mille from cedric that also shows little pe but still growing strong and healthy. So I won't worry too much, just as long it doesn't loose it's colour, growing and no stn. It's doing well.

As for pe for sps corals at night, it's their way of feeding. They are like lps corals that extend their feeding tentacles to feed at night.

Hope this helps

Not intend to feed at the moment, afraid it will affect my water quality..

I also got some coral from bro cedric. The corals will take some time to get use to the lighting intensity and cycle I think.

I hope so too, finger cross. Anyway the growth of the mille are quite obvious, I will leave it and continue to monitor.

Thanks for all the adive :peace:

Royal blue frag from bro Cedric still growing well with little polyps extension, however recently got a pink Millie from GO, polyps extension is very good after stabilized .. So I will just leave the royal blue frag alone for the time being.
