How long to quarantine newly acquired corals and fishes?

Recommended Posts

In my previous setup, setting up a quarantine tank was something I wanted to do but never did. In retrospect, I think I should have done so and could have spared my tank inhabitants a lot less problems. We put livestocks from all over the world into a small little space where it is likely that the livestocks do not have natural immunity against diseases and parasites from other areas.

This time round I am setting one up. But I am not sure how long should I quarantine the newly acquired livestock before introducing to the main tank?

Do you always keep the qt running? Kind of difficult to setup only when you have new live stock to add.
