Slow flow to chiller

Dear all, i am contemplating connecting my return pump to chiller then to display tank. I will be using Arctica 1/4 with varios 4 pump.

The pump allows the user to stop for 30 mins during feeding time.

 

Question is, when i stop the pump for 30 mins, will there be detrimental effects to my chiller? I read somewhere that the water in the chiller will freeze and damage the chiller. Is this true?

Not too sure about it but what I expect from a chiller is that,
1. Sensor in the chiller turns on the chiller when water temperature exceeds preset temperature.
2. Sensors will shut off chilling when water temperature reached preset temperature +- 1 degree.
3. Temperature sensor is located inside chiller = stagnant water in chiller reaches desired temperature, chiller would not be lowering the water temperature thus not freezing over damaging anything.

But if you are using an external temperature probe to regulate chiller to turn on/off, then it’s a different story.
