edited the pic ...

the coral you have there looks like a Echinpora ...I may be wrong...

as the texure doesnt look like a plating montipora.

Anyway....the Ericborneman book I looked up indicated it needs moderate and strong currents with fairly bright light.

from the look fo the pic..may the inner portion was damaged when placing there, coupled by flow of current blocked .....could be the cause of it

the shadow casting on the coral also shows insufficient lighting on the corals as well....

if it has tentacles....should be Echinpora instead of MontiCap that some RC guys have ID-ed for you...(coz pic too small for them to see the texture) ;)

MontiCaps has polyps

Make sure you give it more current flow should be alright... it prevents algae build up on the damage area and to let the coral recover

for light..150W should be alright or T5...

LPS bleaches if the light is too strong as well...(well...that's reefing for you)

Feeding GPs (golden Pearls) does wonders for them as well..

(put a little in a small container, get a huge syringe from pharmacy, add water and spray on the surface...esp lights out period)

where to place it...a tank pic would be easier for guys to help you here
