Some questions on overflow box

as u can see from the pic, how do i start the siphon? and is it possible to get the U tube or must diy from those PVC pipes?

fill water level over the siphon tube in the tank side.... also fill water outside the tank side.... than i use mouth to suck out the air in the U pipe...... the air is gone and the siphon will start.

FYI, I'm now using the same overflowbox design. It is okay to use two PVC elbows instead of using U pipes. Optionally for the small siphon-starter tube, u can attach it to the venturi of a powerhead, so u dont have to manually suck the air using your mouth.
