help! lighting power

Due to my fish tank depth is more then 2ft

I was concent abt the light power

I have 2 questions:

1) if my energy saving light said 28w=120w and IF my MH is 120W(not 150w just for example) Does it mean it can shine abt the same depth?

Haha... so fuuny... you forgot what you wanna ask?

Here's what I can say... that Osram PL is not suitable for corals esp. tank with 2ft height. Refugium inside the sump, maybe.

If you want to look for cheaper alternative to MH, you can consider T5 or LED. Those 2 are more developed for marine reefkeeping purpose. Do bear in mind, 8 tubes of T5 also consumes quite a lot of energy. Just that with lesser heat, you can lessen the burden of the chiller.

If you compare MH, T5 and LED. They almost consume the same amount of energy in the end (if you want to keep SPS and keep them real happy). Saving comes in as T5 and LED transmit less heat to the tank water.

hi, i not using for marine tank and not using this type of light for fishes.

I just want to know, the light and depth of water.

Is measure by nums of watts or lumens?

Is it Watts is same, is it can shine same depth?

if measure by lumens, then what is the lumens for MH 150W?

I think penetrate deep is mesure by lumen /lumin

because i went to this website to see the mH light lumin

found that higher kevin will cause lumen drop too. ( i know higher kevin, will lost penetrate deep)

so all my question solve by myself? mean that MH still win PL FL or energy saving light if all watts are equal. correct me if i wrong

Now i know alot ppl asking question for depth of light T5 vs PL

T5 win abit more

example:

t5 = 28w gave 2750 lumen , mean 1w gave 98.2 Lumen

PL = 32w gave 2040 lumen , mean 1w gave 63.75 lumen
