Nope, TEM chillers are not efficient as refrigerant chillers and cannot be temperature controlled, not to mention more energy consumption cos it runs constantly. They are better suited for pico tanks IMO.

hmm.. there is still a way to solve this, ie to plug into a timer and control the hours when the chiller kicks in, of course u cannot control the weather when is too hot or cold for the chiller to kick in... :(

You're right. Besides a timer, you can use a temperature controller too. But those measures are still dependent on the ambient temperature. If the weather is hot, the chiller will be underpowered for a 1.5ft tank.
