Description

Serranus tortugarum

The Chalk Bass is a beautiful species that always make for a nice addition to either a fish only tank or a reef type set up. Will hide in cliffs and overhangs of the rock structure, upside down, so do not become alarmed if it swims this way. Can also be kept in small schools

Maximum Size: the Serranus tortugarum grows up to 3 inches.

Minimum Tank Size: The Chalk Basslet prefers a tank of at least 20 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim.

Diet: The Serranus tortugarum is a planktivore and likes to eat mysid shrimp, and other fresh or frozen seafoods..

Level of Care: The Chalk Basslet is a low maintenance fish.

Behavior: The Chalk Basslet may act peacefully toward other fish.

Hardiness: This is a hardy fish.

Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 – 1.025, pH 8.1 – 8.4, Temp. 72 – 78° F).

Range: Caribbean.
