Description

Chiloscyllium punctatum

Needs sand, hides in substrate. Sharks should never be exposed to copper-based medicine. Will be shipped 7 – 10 inches. Chiloscyllium punctatum (Muller & Henle 1838), the Brownbanded Bamboo Shark. Dull brown as an adult. Indo-West Pacific. Grows up to three feet eight inches overall length.

Maximum Size: the Chiloscyllium punctatum grows up to 48 inches.

Minimum Tank Size: The Black Banded Cat Shark prefers a tank of at least 180 gallons with plenty of places to hide & sw

Diet: The Chiloscyllium punctatum is a carnivore and likes to eat variety of chopped crustaceans, fish pieces, shrimp, shellfish, squid.

Level of Care: The Black Banded Cat Shark is a high maintenance fish.

Behavior: The Black Banded Cat Shark may act aggressively toward other fish. Not Venemous but may bite if provoked.

Hardiness: This is not a hardy fish.

Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 – 1.025, pH 8.1 – 8.4, Temp. 72 – 78 F).

Range: Indo-Pacific.

Breeding: Able to breed.
