Gomphosus varius also known as the Brown Bird Wrasse is the lesser brightly colored female mate to the spectacular male Green Bird Wrasse. These fish tend, like most wrasses, to be jumpers so be certain to have a safe and secure tank with plenty of wide open swimming space for this active water column swimmer. Dont let the small mouth and happy behavior fool you, this fish may become aggressive toward tankmates with time, this species is known for grabbing it’s prey and bashing it into little bite sized pieces. If adding more than one female, they should be added at one time and only with one male. Does not bury in sand after dark, provide rock structure with caves for this fish to hide in.
