Parupeneus barberinoides
Parupeneus barberinoides (Bleeker 1852), the Bicolor Goatfish. A handsome species of considerable use in the aquarium interest. The ‘beard’ of the goatfish serves as ‘feelers’ to probe the sand for worms and other hidden detritus eating life in the sandbed. Not recommended for reef systems that use the deep sandbed method. Great for bare bottom or fish only systems.
Maximum Size: the Parupeneus barberinoides grows up to 10 inches.
Minimum Tank Size: The Bicolor Goatfish (Hawaiian) prefers a tank of at least 60 gallons with plenty of places to hide
