Flame Cardinal
Apogon pseudomaculatus
Quite hardy, especially given their timid, fragile appearance, and make good additions to peaceful marine set-ups of all kinds. As with all Cardinal fish, the Flame Cardinal is quite popular with hobbyists that keep reef type tanks or peaceful community aquariums. The Flame Cardinal like its cousins is a mouth brooder as well, but there has not been any reported captive breeding with this species. The Flame Cardinal is also one of the more secretive of the Cardinals, choosing to stay close to holes or caves during most of the daylight hours, and then coming out at night to feed. Of course in captivity, this species adapts quite well, and will be seen during the day as well. |
