Serranus tigrinus or Harlequin Basslet, should NOT be placed with Crustaceans or smaller fish, as it WILL eat these. Prefers darker tanks with limited lighting or hiding spaces where it can perch. Likes caves and overhangs and will become aggressive and territorial. |
Maximum Size: the Serranus tigrinus grows up to 4 inches. Minimum Tank Size: The Harlequin Bass prefers a tank of at least 20 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim. Diet: The Serranus tigrinus is a carnivore and likes to eat variety of meaty treats. Level of Care: The Harlequin Bass is a low maintenance fish. Behavior: The Harlequin Bass may act aggressively toward other fish. Hardiness: This is a hardy fish. Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 – 1.025, pH 8.1 – 8.4, Temp. 72 – 78 F). Range: the Caribbean. |
