Orange Shoulder Tang
Acanthurus olivaceus
The Acanthurus olivaceus is a beautiful addition to any aquarium as an adult or juvenile. Smalls and some mediums are a bright attractive yellow and will morph into the normal adult coloration of gray on two halfs of it’s body with a large orange bar at the shoulder above the pectoral fin. As most tangs, should be housed in a large tank as this fish can reach 14 inches very quickly.
Maximum Size: the Acanthurus olivaceus grows up to 14 inches.
Minimum Tank Size: The Orange Shoulder Tang prefers a tank of at least 150 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim
Diet: The Acanthurus olivaceus is a herbivore and likes to eat Dried Seaweed (best), marine algae, mysid shrimp, Spirulina, Romaine Lettuce (blanched) , fresh seaweed, and other meaty treats.
Level of Care: The Orange Shoulder Tang is a medium maintenance fish.
Behavior: The Orange Shoulder Tang may act peacefully toward other fish.
Hardiness: This is a hardy fish.
Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 – 1.025, pH 8.1 – 8.4, Temp. 72 – 78 F).
