Chaetodon collare, Bloch 1787, the Pakistani, Red-Tail or Collare Butterflyfish. A delicate looking species that fares well in general. Best shown and kept in pairs to groups. This is one of the butterflies that looks touchy due to its attractiveness but is quite tough. Will eat coral polyps, but also readily feeds on other invertebrate foods. |
Maximum Size: the Chaetodon collare grows up to 6 inches. Minimum Tank Size: The Pakistan Butterfly prefers a tank of at least 60 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim. Diet: The Chaetodon collare is a carnivore and likes to eat variety of chopped foods (meats & veggies). Level of Care: The Pakistan Butterfly is a medium maintenance fish. Behavior: The Pakistan Butterfly may act peacefully toward other fish. Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 – 1.025, pH 8.1 – 8.4, Temp. 72 – 78 F). Range: Sri Lanka/Maldives. |
