Scarus teaniopterus

Before going to sleep in a hole, the Bi-colored parrotfish finds a hole in rockwork on the reef and makes a bed by spinning a cocoon around its body. The slimy bubble hides the fish’s scent. This protects the parrotfish from nighttime predators like moray eels, which hunt by their sense of smell.

Maximum Size: the Scarus teaniopterus grows up to 14 inches.

Minimum Tank Size: The Princess Parrotfish prefers a tank of at least 130 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim.

Diet: The Scarus teaniopterus is a omnivore and likes to eat algae, variety of veggies, meats.

Level of Care: The Princess Parrotfish is a high maintenance fish.

Behavior: The Princess Parrotfish may act peacefully toward other fish.
