  1. hi bro,

i'm also just started my tank. In a few week, my tank full with algae. Just wanna share with u that u can buy some snails to fight the algae. Never buy the Nassarius Snails (they all days long burrowing in the sand and only come out at feeding time to eat the flake) Never touch the algae.

Buy some Turbo or Astraea snail (They are really algae eaters) :D I buy 5 astraea snails and put in my 3ft tank. take only 2 days and now all the algae almost gone already. (think they also eat the coralline algae  )

Now i'm scare that they will starve without algae. :snore:

Here is some of my hp pic u can ID the snail.

Tnks for the info. Saw your posts too late :( . Brought 3 nassarius snails last night... 2 sec after i put them in the tank, they went straight into the sand <_< . Till now, no trace of them.....

btw, curious, for those algea, if nv control, they will spread all over the tank right. Other then the tank ugly, will there be other side effect? ie, water will go bad etc etc etc?

  2. did u check on ur Phosphate (PO4)? Its starting n it can spread fast if nothing is

been done to slow down its process of spreading.

Have u got ur Phosphate media running now?

    No, :(

Currently only have a internal filter and n skimmy on the tank.

Will get into the PO4 asap, tnks for the advised

  3. The poor red starfish will soon be gobble up by the non reef safe star  better to remove the fellow else the next target will be ur corals.... I had one b4 and it gobble up some of my rics :fear: Expensive meals

Meaning i should remove this star asap if i will to keep any kind of corals?

  4. Yup, brown algea are starting to appeared on my LR... Is it a good sign or bad?

    Water permiter:

    Sanlity: 1.022

    PH: 8.2

    Ammonia: 0

    Nitrite: 0

    Nitrate: 10

Anything else that i should look out for?

If i'm not wrong, base on the reading above, my water shouldnt be a prob. (Hope so)

Any pointers/advises will be a great help. Tnks!

  5. That slug you have looks like a Phyllidia varicosa

Species from this genus feed on sponges and thus obtain defensive chemicals from it.

If the slug does not die, it'll probably poison anything else in your tank through its defensive mechanism ;)

You can try www.seaslugforum.net for more info on sea slugs

Sounds like dangerous for my tank :( no wonder i seldom see any slugs in most of the ppl's tank here. Haiz, who ask me see him so chio then nv think much buy liao. :(

  6. I also use a internal mechanical filter.Sump too troublesome ah btw expensive liao jus keeping easy LPS coral .Later my mum start to nag about spend too much cash.See i knew it cannot trust that lady in the aqua marin shop. But then she told two yellow tail damsel does not fight. But that is the one that is true.

hehe, yaloh. same here. Just started, wanna keep it simple and cheap atm. Might start invest if tank survive well in times to come :D . btw, u hv a chiller for your LPS coral?
