True, Marine fishes does not belong to the tank. The same goes for dogs/cats and hamsters. The reason why we are able to do it now is technology and knowledge. That's why we want to share the knowledge on the forum.
If there's no chiller, you can't keep marine fish/corals, no MH/LED, you cant keep corals. Who is to say we can't keep sharks or other exotic pets in future. Even deep water fishes can be kept and breed these days.

I do not consider posting here as cyberbullying. The reason is simple, i believe most of us only speak the truth. I do not care if the shop is big or small, new or old or whether if it's sponsor on SRC. Those people who follow what me and desi says on our thread will know how much we complained about certain LFS who are sponsors here. They are just sponsors, running a business. Being their customers, we have the right to comment, be it good or bad. Likewise, we have commented on certain LFS/individuals that provide good service/products.
Bro, I don't agree on this too. Long time back wrote bad comments about a LFS who is a sponsor on SRC but the thread was locked and apparently deleted
So, I believe if there is no direct mention of sponsors in SRC then it might still be possible. -

It agreeable that ethics should be view in a larger way. Very much like the dolphin issues are RWS. Are they or they are not into conservation?
No human beings is perfect but can i ask what if the so mentioned push cart is one of the sponsor in this forum. Will this so call "friendly" debate thread be still around?
Although there is no name of the push cart mentioned but its very obvious where and who they are. If in future, i encounter such happenings and they happen to be one of the sponsors can i say "oh that fish shop in lavender road, or that fish shop beside QianHu and we have people "flaming" and "healthy" discussion on it?
Not trying to be ###### here but there seriously a need to know what we can, cannot do on this forum and how transparent the discussion can be.

I'll just make it simple here. Is what the push cart and thomson plaza doing:
1. Illegal
2. Unethical.
if its 1, there is no basis for argument as they operate as a legal business. No one have the right to close them down based on what they are doing. Just like the so call slim, maintenance free aquarium. remember?
If its 2, then all of us are unethical in catching wild marine fishes and confine them in our home. There are also many LFS here in Singapore. Irregardless, if they are Sponsors or not in this forum are unethical. If can flame the push cart cos it is unethical and claim that we in this forum are ethical, fair and passionate. Then something is seriously not right in this forum.
Lemon, I understand where you coming from and how passionate, helpful you always been. Unless, this forum operate on a non-profit platform, no need for sponsors and we can go to the extend of listing dishonest, unethical LFS both sponsors and non-sponsors. It better for us to close this thread.

I absolutely agree and support this statement but sadly, its not readily applicable to how some LFS on this forum apply this as their business practices. Its understandable, as end of the day LFS need to make money and the forum need their support and its also not right to lecture how they should run their business.
i've no relation to the push cart LFS mentioned on this thread but i think its is not fair that they should be listed so openly and condemned on this forum. They are also running a business just like the sponsors LFS in this forum. Imagine, if they are one of the sponsor on this forum. Can we condemn them so openly all for the sake of - "proper transfer of knowledge is established and strong ethinical practices are uphold within this hobby"?
If its really so serious, call in the press and SPCA. I'm sure they be glad to do something about it.

It is even more shameful that there are some old timers LFS in town who give out such advices too.
I'm not familiar with butterfly fish. Imagine I was told by a LFS that ornate butterflyfish is super easy to keep, take pellets readily and rare!. Luckily, consulted an experience bro and was told otherwise.

LOL. Called shop don't know when. Email, no reply. Hope they will post online if there is shipping. Feel that sponsors should be more active in their posting on the forum. Since they are paying for it must well fully make use of the bandwidth.
Try calling the shop. They are a bit stretch these days.

Carbon and Po4 perhaps still possible. bio pellets be best to keep it seperate, what is you need to change the carbon and P04 and the bio pellets is not yet fully use?

please advise what kind of media you be mixing together. It is best not to as each media have their own like span. You can connect 2 FR together using the same pump. Place the most "heavy" media i.e. PO4 media follow by the lighter media i.e carbon.

i got one from a fellow reefer, John before. Was feeding on pellets! but lost it to ick..... he got quite good record in keeping a feeding golden butterfly
Bros understand golden butterflies are difficult fishes. Anyone successful in keeping them? Very tempted to try out but want to find out more before jumping in.

I truly understand where you coming from but sometimes sharing brands can be quite sensitive as well because what if 1 of sponsors here is the main or sole distributor for that particular brand?

I guess it's only okay to share the basic feedback in this forum, but not directly at any particular LFS. What if the LFS mentioned is one of the sponsor here? And as this site need sponsors to be sustainable, won't this would make things "not so nice" for the moderators?
As much as I would like to share the infos and add value to nebwies but just like any businesses i'm sure there will always be supporters and detractors for each and every LFS. Perhaps some would even go to the extend to rally fellow reefers to be "key board heros" for them. As such, is there fairness? it will only end up as another never ending story episode.
My purpose here is not to reveal or pin point the LFS that did this kind of silly business tactics to me just to earn that extra few bucks. But to let reefers know there are such LFS around, gather opinions and hopefully the LFS in town will be more aware that reefers know such incidents are happening. Having been in LFS industry long doesn't means the LFS is trustworthy. Just need to see and buy with "eyes open"

Like wise, I'm okay if the LFS have standard and standard premium prices. Just be honest and upfront about it. It's okay to mark up for unique, special and stable stocks but not when before mentioned all prices were the same and upon sensing that I like a particular piece made me carrot headed.
To bros who PM and ask for the LFS name. Sorry, I'm ethical enough not to stoop so low as the LFS ower to carrot head, name and shame the LFS. All I can say is its a very long time and experience LFS

Hello Guys
Went to this local LFS. Was really interested to get a fish and enquired about the price before i head down. Firstly, was told all the fishes were the same price and was even mentioned it was offered to me at discounted price.
all fishes were placed in different tanks and been looking and was keen on a particular one. Ii enquired about the price again for the piece I interested in and to my amazement, the piece of fish i been looking and interested in cost more than the others which i wasn't too keen on - reason being it's different from rest of the fish. Sensing that I was kinda piss the LFS changed track and said if I really interested, it'll be "special for me" and now same price as the others.
Should we support such LFS who is out to earn that extra bucks than earning respect and loyalty from return customers? Was seriously considering getting the fish but ended up getting piss and walk away.
