  1. Hi, giving away half bottle of Seachem marine buffer, bought for few months only. Suitable for fish only tank, maintains your pH at 8.3 Don't need it anymore because I decide to concentrate on my reef tank. Self collect at Pasir Ris after Thursday as I will be away on business trip. cheers.
  2. ...one point to add...the DVD HDD recorder is approved for use in Singapore, it bears the PSB safety approval logo. some extra features info : 1) It records in both MPEG 1 (VCD quality) and MPEG 2 (DVD quality) onto the harddisk. 2) You can copy a DVD onto the harddisk, for your own disc backup and viewing(hehe copyright disclaimer ) 3) It works just like your VCR, has timer recording function that records TV programs while you are away. cheers.
  3. Hi, brand new adjustable pipes(locline look-a-like) left over from my tank setup. I have 4 pieces on hand, intend to sell at $5.50 per piece, take all 4 at $20. self collect at Pasir Ris. Also want to sell my DVD harddisk recorder at $250, brand new and working, selling because I have upgraded to a DVD+RW disc recorder. It plays DVD & VCD and has a hard disk built in. Basically it works just like your VCR, except that you do not need video tapes, you can record directly onto the harddisk your favourite TV programs, or dub a DVD onto the harddisk. It comes complete with manual, remote controller and cables. Interested parties please PM, I may take a while to reply as I will be away for business trip, returning end of the week. Thanks for looking.
  4. Hi I am interested, can PM me your intended selling price? Thanks
  5. plenty of blue tangs, medium to large size at the shop behind RxxfWoxxd, Pasir Ris.
  6. actually the drip rate varies from tank to tank, 1 drop per second is only a guide for you to start off. The optimum point is the threshold point whereby the rotten egg smell just disappear. You have to experiment. suggest not to wash it, if you are really worried, then just collect the output from the denitrator and pour it away instead of dripping back to the tank. After a while it should clear off. I believe your set comes with a valve on the input line, just add another one on the output tube, this should help you in regulating the drip rate better. Best is if you can afford a dosing pump, that should solve the problem. for inital startup you need to feed daily, after it has been established, you can rely on the deniballs, the white one, not the black bioballs.
  7. firstly, get an airpump with airstone to aerate the output of your denitrator, the cloudiness and smell should go away. If your tank is small, consider doing some water change, otherwise it may affect your live stock. No need to wash it unless you just started it less then a month, it makes no difference to start all over again. the cloudiness and smell will happen if your drip rate is too slow. try to increase your drip rate bit by bit until the point where the cloudiness and smell goes away, that is the drip rate that suits you. If you find it difficult to regulate the drip rate, add 1 more inline valve on the outlet, it helps. btw, are you feeding it daily? advisable to feed it daily for a start, once established, you can depend on the deniballs.
  8. ok here's a pic of it....btw you can see the actual thing in action below the display tank of rebxxx, on the second floor.
  9. yes, I am using and it is effective. But....I would suggest you try out refugium first. Reason is (1) The nitrate reductor is not cheap, (2) It is not exactly maintenance free....well...sort of (3) It is not easy to tune the flow rate to the optimum point...It took 4 months of finetuning to bring my nitrate down to 10ppm. oh yes, definitely no alcohol needed, only time that you would probably need alcohol is when you spent a lot on the equipment and yet your nitrate level is still high, you will need some alcohol for yourself to de-stress btw there was a discussion thread on this earlier on this forum, do a search.
  10. quite unlikely that you will see the effect within 2 weeks. I have been running the aquamedic nitrate reductor 1000(rated for 1000 litres) for quite long already. It has kept my nitrate below 10ppm despite the fact that I have 20 over fishes in my 4ft tank, I remember that long time ago my nitrate level before using it was more than 100ppm Mine ran for 4 months before my nitrate level went down below 10ppm. But tuning the drip rate can be quite a pain in the posterior.. trust me...its not as easy as described in the manual
  11. mine open up whenever I want it to. Its simple, I take a piece of shrimp meat(market prawns) from the freezer, use a tongs to sway the meat in front of it for a few minutes, then wait another 5 to 10 minutes, it will open up. Also notice that fresh shrimp meat don't work as well, best is those already kept in freezer for more than a week.... It works for my black, and orange sun corals...
  12. kalk = chalk, just difference in language. kalkwasser is German, means chalk water, ie calcium hydroxide
