  1. sorry mate, I can't.. cause the it's stuck between my filtration system and the tank.. there's no other view of it than what I can give. I"d try to get a snapshot of it if it ever gets out of that area.. but all I can see is that area ( it's under parts!).. as it's always on the glass and not on the sand whereby I can get a top down view. :(

    cheers, Desi.

  2. Hi guys, I"m glad I found this page but I still can't ID what on earth is this slug.. I know now I have a snail.. and it is emitting sperm into the water.. but anyone have any clue what this is?

I can't seem to identify it even by looking at the pictures on the link given. It seems to just be eating the algae that I can't scrap off from the glass that is between my submersed filtration system and the tank. It used to be quite small but now it has grown. About 5mm in length.

anyone any ideas in enlightening the heathen? :)

    Cheers,

    Desi

  3. hee hee... if you guys like sting rays.. NOT the ones to eat but an up close and personal experience with the big kick ###### ones, Banyan tree resort has 8 Resident Sting rays which will come up to feed everyday at 5pm. Here's a snapshot of the Marine Biologist during feeding time in the water

And here's another pic of my foray in the water of this fish going after a piece of bread... I just find it rather funny... I mean.. just imagine what the fish must be thinking and if it's a singaporean fish : CCHHEEEOONNGGG AHHHHHHH!!!!!!

These 2 fish seem to be on a collision course with each other.

  4. I"m a newbie but here's my 2 cents worth of experience with my BTA : My anamone moved around like CRAZY in my tank for the first 2 days.. and my poor clown was following it. IT endedup settling down at a CORNER near the filter.. and began to shrink and look well basically horrible.

And because I added another huge live rock into the tank cause I had the idea that if I was going to disturb it, I might as well disturb it all at one go.. I disloged it from it's corner where it was looking really drab and placed it facing the water flow. It began to move again... sigh.. at one point the base of the anamone was all spread out against the glass facing out so you can imagine how fed up my husband was but when I Saw it I simply coudn't stop laughing.

The next morning, it had settled between the 2 big rocks ( so happen it was like a cave) and facing the water flow and it has been there ever since...

Learnt that for an anamone, you simply can't put it where you want it.. it will go to where it wants to go!

And feeding EVERYDAY helps. :P That's what I notice too.

  5. Thank you very much for your kind words but I know that my photography can be much improved. HAH. But perhaps you guys could enlighten me what fish this is cause I saw it and I absolutely love the color...

haahh ok I think that's enough to share with you guys. ENjoy the pics. :) It brings back memories for me too!

    cheers, Desi. :)

  6. WEll thanks! I tried very hard to get a pic as i just saw something white coming out of the rocks and I just dunked the underwater camera down and tried to get as close as possible to it's cave and zoomed in! THe eel was like the size of my middle my finger? That small! It just looks big in the picture. :)

    Glad you liked it.

Here's some other pics I took when snorkling. nothing great.. just tons of fish. LOL The first one is when I was snorkeling near the jetty of the resort and my husband was throwing bread into the water for the fish to eat.. that's why there were so many and they were swarming around me as I went flicker crazy..

This one i just like it cause it looks so cute with the focal point being the little fishy right in the middle of the picture. This is in much deeper water than the the above picture.

  7. Hi there.

here is a picture of an eel ( at least I think it's an eel.. do correct me since I am probably wrong!) which I Saw as I was reef walking when I was in maldives in May. It was only ankle deep water and I Saw something white coming out of a small outcrop of rock.. dunked in my underwater camera and tried to zoom in as much as possible to get whatever it was! LOL. :)

  8. Hi Reeftask,

THANKS for the ultra fast response. Yes, the anenemoe has settled down ( thank the gods of fish!) and is looking very well as you can see from the picture. Is that color alright from your or anyone else's experience? I have been reading on the link provided in this thread on anamoneas and I wonder whether mine has been "altered". I don't think so but then again, with my limited experience, I can't tell!

And yes, we were thinking of adding another smaller Tomato clown to join our ketchup but I have also read that they may fight to assert dominance. I am just worried that Ketchup will not accept another clown at all as the shop owner did warn us of the risk we are taking IF we try to intro another clown ( even if it's a smaller one). But we will wait a little while more for the tank to be more stable before thinking of getting another clown. At the moment, we have only ketchup and 2 small hawawiian damsels ( we call them zip and zap!) in the tank and ROCKY our boxer shrimp besides 3 other kinds of soft corals. We are considering getting one cleaner shrimp too.

We do not have a chiller at the moment. Our tank temperature is between 27-28 degrees. Rather constant. The PH is always 8-8.1 and salinity is about 1.023 ( I hope I remenbered that right but it's in the "green" range on my hydrometer). So far we have done all the testing ( ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, calcium, KH etc) and everything seems to be in the acceptable ranges.

Ketchup is a greedy little fish.. he eats and POOPS allot! LOL!!!

cheers, Desi ( baby.. aka plankton?...)

  9. Hi all,

I am pretty new to the Marine Fish keeping hobby... ( almost a month only.. so I'm a baby compared to all of you) So happened I saw this thread and read it since I have an anemone in my 2 feet tank.

It caused allot of sleepless nights for my husband and I because it kept on moving around and was looking very "retracted" and the colour was not "luminous".. basically looked sickly. We do have one tomato Clown fish whch will constantly follow the anemone whereever it went. We started to feed it everyday and after about 1 week of moving around, it has finally settled between 2 big rocks facing outwards.

I hope and pray that it survives for as long as possible cause reading some of the posts have made me very scared now to go home in case something terrible happens.

Here is a picture of it with our clown fish whom we call : Ketchup!

    cheers,

    Desi.
