  1. thanks for ur advice, will look into that.
  2. Today marks the day my dream comes true... registered on SGreefclub on 2007 but only till now did i get a chance to set up my first ever marine tank.. though small but its a good start i guess! preparing tank for set up.. using 5lbs of Caribsea live sand. and 4 KG of live rocks (bought from a reefer who very kindly chose out those with coraline algae for me, Thank you again if ur reading this!) inital rock scape., Since its my first time, i had totally no idea how the rock should be placed.. i just try to make sure it flows through well.. After a few hours of cycling, water is almost crystal clear now.. the right bottom rock rests fully on the sand, is this ok? will it start trapping detritus? More accurate light color.. not really that blue like the above picture.. the 6x3w (4 white 2 blue) beamswork LED light is really bright, creating those light rays.. beautiful. Turns out the 1000l/hr dolphin HOB flowrate seems to be just nice to push the flow through the rocks and towards the back.. seems like a smooth flow overall.. or should i be aiming for a faster flow? I've got a couple few more questions anyway.. 1) i've got Seachem purigen and Rowaphos now, should i add them in my HOB now or wait till cycle finishes? 2) I read that coraline algaes needs light to grow.. how long should i on my light for now? 3) Should i do WC during cycling period? (intend to leave it to cycle for a month) 4) i got this Iwarna top-up water free from another reefer and the bottle states that it promotes growth of coraline algae, but it dosn't state the amount to dose for my 34L tank.. any idea? Thanks in advance and apologies for all this questions.. and thanks to all those who have helped me extensively so far.. i appreciated it alot.
  3. for myself im thinking of adding Prodibio Nano kit or Goodbye po4 or maybe both..
  4. i dun think thers any RO membrane inside.. i didnt know i needed that.. read many DI set up and all uses carbon and DI resin only.. Anyway, today i went to test my DI water freshly mixed with red sea coral pro salt and my API nitrate test kit shows that my DI water nitrate is 0ppm.. didnt have any po4 test kit though.
  5. thanks for ur advice, already thrown away and bought red sea coral pro salt already
  6. Will definitely do 10% weekly since I don't have a skimmer..
  7. saw 2 buckets of 7kg at c328 just now.. bought one. didnt see any big tub one though.
  8. Noticed my filter has a ledge that direct the flow infront instead of straight down.. Thats why have a wave effect.. and the wave hits the wall and disperse downwards.. making the flow well dispersed. i use a refractometer to measure SG.. salinity can also be measured by the refractometer right? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyway, i was contemplating between D-D H2Ocean salt and Red Sea coral Pro salt and i ended up with the red sea coral pro.. reason being it was cheaper and madpetz wasn't really accessible for me. Will try H2Ocean after i finish my current tub.. Is there any other stuff i need to dose to keep corals healthy? subce the coral pro salt comes with many minerals already...
  9. Interested in ur atman and tomtom pump. SMS me at 91063934. Thanks.
  10. Hmmm true.. will look really weird. ill see if i can DIY something to direct the flow.. Thanks!
  11. Filter comes with a Wool/Activated Carbon cartridge. its ok to keep the AC in the tank right.. i will clean the wool weekly.. You mean ah beng? where issit? Hmm.. probably can use live rock to disperse the strong flow?
  12. Thanks for helping firestarter. I'm getting live rock and live sand too. If I get live rock with coralline aglae on them. Do they need light to grow well?
  13. I upgraded my Gex filter to a Dolphin H-800 filter. its 1020L/hr and it seems to be providing quite a high flowrate (30x overturn) Do i still need a wavemaker? Another question is that, i was given a harden read sea salt from another reefer.. but i went on to break it apart and add into my tank with DI water. its been running for 2 days but still milky/chalky.. any idea why? issit because of precipitation? This HOB provides quite a big space for additional stuff.. probably gonna add some biohome Plus, Rowaphos and purigen.. The 6x3w Beamswork LED is also very bright!!!
  14. red sea coral pro salt i noticed online got 7KG buket.. anywhere to find this 7kg one? Anyway i saw those 4kg red sea salt pack with lower calcium and magnesium readings.. im only keeping LPS, zoas and easy soft corals in my 1ft cube tank.. do i need those high levels of calcium and magesium that D-D H2Ocean or coral pro salt provides?
  15. Hi, as above I'm looking for a used IQ skimmer(lime wood included is fine) in good condition. Or any other kind of nano skimmer that fits a 1ft cube (34L) tank. SMS me at 9106-3934 if you have any to sell. Thanks!
  16. Thanks for ur reply.. Since the crystal pro comes with one carbon and 2 resin should I stick to it? Or change to one sediment one carbon and one resin? Thanks!
  17. Thanks for ur advice.. Any idea if its ok to use 10TDS water? it just meant that its not as pure as 0tds right?
  18. how do u plan on maintaining this tank without skimmer?
  19. i've only used purigen for freshwater and i've read alot overseas forum praising purigen for doing a good job in marine tanks..
  20. I was given a pack of red sea salt but they appears to be rock hard.. i had to use a screwdriver and jab it multiple times to break them apart, before i dump them into my 34L tank and cycle with a 600l/hr pump.. even after 24hours, there's still some salt on the tank base.. refractometer reads 1.024.. is the salt ok?
  21. woah, yesterday took a photo with flash and it seems like most of the resin inside is dark... no wonder im getting 10 - 15ppm. should i change?
