Nice tank u have! Is it possible to have super sun in a sps tank without polluting the tank too much for sps to survive? Read u wanted to have super sun in ur tank as well and supersun requires quite a bit of feeding

Thank you! its an double edge sword if you want to have NPS corals in a SPS-dominated tank. i was interested to try out 1 or 2 to glue to the underside of my floating rocks but sun/supersun corals are very hard to come by nowadays.. very expensive too.
Just now, Jason Ng said:Hi bro
U mentioned the led of your UAS blew. Where did you get another set of the led? From Taobao too? If so, what did u search for the part? Like to know as I’m also having the UAS.
Thanks
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkYeah the adapter spoil and i used a wrong spare adapter and the led blew, i contacted the seller and he told me to ship it back to them he will replace the LED for me for free. But given our location that is not economically feasible. So he offered to sell me just the LED module along with a new adapter for only about $12. Pretty good after-sales service i must say.

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI think they are all the same light, just get the one from a reputable shop with good rating. I ship it to ezbuy warehouse and back to sg via ezbuy.

Day 84.
Some corals photos!
One of my all time favourite, Bonsai!
Got this beautiful SSC colony couple weeks back, its a real pity it dropped overnight because i didnt glue it well enough. some of the tips STN-ed and thankfully they are encrtusting back after snipping the dead tips off.
Bought as a sunset millie, but its turning pink...
Random shots..
Zoas and LPS are growing very well too despite my low nutrients. Feeding Reef Energy AB+ daily.
So as my previous update, i've gotten myself a 2nd Noopsyche, i can see a great improvement in spread and definitely less shadowing on my SPS. Given the price point, it is still extremely worth the money to run 2 on a 2 footer.
Current peak period of both lights max out at White 17%, Blues/Royal Blues/UV 50%, red/green 6%

Hi bro
Is 1 set of the k7 pro 2 light sufficient for a 2ft cube tank? How is this light compare to razor 420 120w 16k?
As my razor is time to change the led pad, am thinking of shld I just change to a new k7 pro 2.
Hope to have some suggestion from expert as I’m know nuts abt lighting.
I’m keeping only lps & mushies.
Thanks.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkHi bro, 2ft cube for LPS and soft corals 1 K7 is definitely enough. You probably will not run it above 70%.

Hi bro, not so much of a great experience as its there mainly for ich/parasite mangement. But i did see an improvement in water clarity after installing the UV back on. Also a huge reduction in algae on the tank wall!

Hi sorry guys my tank 10mm thickness..and checked with my tank maker he said should not be prob as it is onli 105 x 50 x 50 ....any comments on this
Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile appI would prefer 12mm but of course Tank maker's the professional, will be ok since he had confirmed so. 5mm would've been a very dangerous set up!

Hi yes bro there is 2 brace supporting each legs and another one in the middle....my tank in 5mm thickness..i should have gone for more thicker one ...
Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile appi would strongly suggest you to remake your tank, 105x50x50 5mm braceless is absolutely a big NO. who is your tank maker to even agree making such a thin tank for such tank size? i wouldn't even think 10mm would be safe since its rimless, euro-braced 10mm is fine though.
I don't think even if you DIY some bracing on it will make it safe.

I personally think that FOWLR do not need 0 TDS water from RODI or DI unit. Just tap water is fine. But then again, if you can its definitely better.
With you tank size you'll need some big and solid skimmer, Don't think even the BM Curve 9 will make a good choice since you have over 1200L water. Deltec 1500IX is a good choice IMO.
Such a big tank is also gonna be a challenge to chill, FOWLR ideally should have a chiller running as well.
Edit: Don't you already have the FOWLR set up?

Day 79.
Nothing much has changed, corals are growing very well and color are maintaing well too. Did some simple modification over the weekend to improve the set up.
Ordered a bunch of PVC fittings, great way to learn about DIY plumbing! The previous soft tube plumbing i did put too much back pressure (due to too many 90 degree joints) on my Jebao DC Pump, it actually stopped working a couple times. Realised what was going on and switched back to a T joint that feeds the chiller instead.
As i have a UV unit, i will need 2 manifolds..
Fixed it up after it cured, the big bulky fitting with an arrow pointing up is a check valve that prevents backflow. Also fitted 2 ball valve to feed the Chiller and my UV.
Next up, my UAS LED blew a week ago and had to order another set of LED. Within a week most of the algae inside died and the display's wall had a noticable increase in algae growth. Guess that means the UAS was working well!
Took the chance to also use the chiller return line to feed this UAS instead of a dedicated pump. That way i can save some power and contribute less heat to the system.
Also noticed alot of pods (some were HUGE) living within the UAS, guess it can also be used as a copepods condo!
I fitted 2 90 degree elbow replacing the pump fitting and fitted my chiller return line to it.
Final sump look, pretty messy but it gets the job done! Also bought an external thermostat and its doing a great job while measuring the temperature in my DT, instead of what's going through my chiller.
End this update with a little sneak peak, got myself a 2nd Noopsyche K7 Pro 2.

Wah bro 3 weeks into cycling u planted sps already ah? Can be done ah
Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile appMissed your reply, i think i added my first SPS in during the 4th week. Can be done, i had 0 losses and almost no color loss as well. I kept my alk very stable at 8.6dkh and i test it twice a day. Having no fish for more than 2 months also helped in managing nutrients for a new tank.

1 Yellow tang is fine, blue tang gets way too large and powder blue are just not suitable for beginners as they are ich magnets.

You have a relatively low fish bioload for your tank size, ur curve 7 should work better as well!
-
i would never run a reef tank without skimmer. As much as there is debate that you don't need one to have a successful reef tank, having one helps ALOT in making your reef tank successful.
-
As above,
Bacto balance left more than 95%
A element left about 30%
Both bottles are the 1000ml version.
Letting go both together for only $20.

Day 64.
Water parameters measured today:
No3: <1 ppm
Po4: 0.050 - 0.010 ppm
kH: 8.6dKh
Ca: 450ppm
Mg: 1200ppm
Potassium 380ppm
Tank is 2 months old and 4 weeks into the fallow period, and pods are exploding in astronomical numbers because of it! i also fed Red Sea AB+ and reef roids daily for the past 1 weeks along with 2x frozen mysis feeding for my LPS to see how well NoPox reduces Po4.As you can see, No3 remains below 1ppm while po4 had steadily rised to 0.01ppm, seems like i NoPox alone will not reduce much po4. I had placed some AF Phosphate minus in a bag in my overflow chamber.
Managed to squeeze out some space in my room for a 28L QT tank, its smaller than what i want as a QT but i have to make do for now. Got a pair of Snowflake clown and a YT couple days ago. They will go through a full 30 days QT with cupramine + Prazi treatment before going into my main tank.
The clowns are really pretty!
Got myself a RBTA a week ago, interestingly, it was an 'offspring' of the RBTA i used to sell years ago. Thanks to a reefer bro here who sold it to me!
Some new LPS
very luminous green acan.
Red goniopora
Top down shot of my LPS and zoas
Here's some comparison shot of the SPS growth in a span of 2 weeks. Top being 2 weeks ago, bottom is taken today. Getting pretty good growth now with a alk consumption of 0.3dkh daily. I also fragged some of the SPS hoping to induce braching growth in them.
Sky blue staghorn
Miyaigi Tort
Red Millie
Red planet millie
Cookie Monster acropora
Yongei
Rainbow stag
I will end this post with an update of my UAS. There's better growth after switching to a 12 hours reverse light cycle. But probably will take some time to get it really going espcially when i have no fish now.
Thanks for viewing!

Just get a chiller, in the long term, you'll end up saving alot (in terms of fish/corals). The amount of money poured into fishes and corals are significantly higher than a 2nd hand chiller.
