  1. So bro seemonkee, which part are better then? the honeymoon or the reef experience???
  2. A bit OOT, here is article from worldtravelers.org, on how to handle your pet on flight. Even dogs which are definitely true mammals, are not recommended to pass the x-ray machine, let alone those little tiny lower class species like fish http://www.worldtravelers.org/understandin...ng2.asp#Animals Animals Pets If you are bringing your pet on board with you, you may be asked to remove the animal from its carrier so that the carrier can go through the X-ray machine. Your animal will never be placed in the X-ray machine. You may walk your animal through the metal detector with you, or it may undergo a separate visual and physical inspection. Service Animals Travelers employing a guide dog, hearing dog, or other service animal are encouraged by TSA and airlines to carry some form of appropriate identification, including: I.D. card for the animal presence of a harness or markings on the harness tags written documentation stating the animal has been trained to assist a special needs individual or credible verbal assurance of the passenger using the dog for their disability. The traveler is not required to show proof of a disability. Since each situation is different, advise the screener how you and your dog can go through the metal detector as a team (i.e. whether walking together or with the dog walking in front of or behind you while you continually maintain control of the dog with the leash and/or harness. The dog's harness will likely set off the alarm on the metal detector. In such cases, the screener will perform a hand inspection of the dog and its belongings (collar, harness, leash, backpack, vest, etc.) The belongings will not be removed from your dog at any time. If necessary, remind the screener that you should not be separated from your dog and that removal of your dog's belongings is a sign to the animal that it is off work, and can impair the relationship between the individual and the service animal. 3. Native Americans? u mean the Indian? hey, I thought Ruben is Afro-American???
  4. RACIALIST!!! What Elton John said was right! It's no longer about quality of the singer, it's about ethnic/region sentiment (did u know the whole Hawaiian state back in US, all support Jasmine to win, does not matter if with she is good or not)...In fact, I saw the Channel Fox News where Paula Abdul said she has had enough! is too tired with this show, particularly "this situation" Good bye Latoya! PS: Did you know even Ruben Studdard won the first place, and Aiken was second place, but Aiken got more contracts of advertisements, and his album sold better than Ruben.....u know why....
  5. Hello all, Hello KS. Wuahh...a good news now for you, next time you could buy lots of fishes back to Sing, but of course u should also check the airlines, cause some of them won't let u hand-carry live fish on-board (Emirates won't allow u for sure, I asked before) Ho, No...I think it would be very difficult for Indonesian Reefers to change their perception of taking good care of reefs, unless there are regulation that put a very high taxes on those corals, then they may be a chance. As long as is still cheap, rarely people will mind the real knowledge of reefkeeping. In fact some of them from Forum think those techonology and knowledge of marine aquarium available today are created only to the advantage of Western & develped countries. So there are resistance of learning of new knowledge (education background and being spoiled by the abundant of the Indonesian marine resources are the main issue here). At the end, many of them are still maintaining their traditional reefkeeping knowledge.
  6. The devastation of the reef is caused by global warming 50%, and the rest is by us, the reefers. Our human need to have everything personally, including having coral reef personally in our home, so we could watch them everyday, has created the a sooner catasthrophy for the reefs. Been thinking about it lately also....may be it would be better to switch to F/O
  7. It's indeed nicely decorated for a small-med size tank. The lightning it's perfectly placed...Cool!
  8. Yeah...good idea nickel...just pm me when u r bout to be here.... It's always a pleasure to meet new people and to share interest and knowledge...
  9. Weilong & kschew, back to jakarta already! correction, the one got bombing is Marriot, not Hyatt, Hyatt is pretty safe, and very close to 'Sumenep', central market of saltwater fish & coral. Btw, I just find out, the possibility of bringing coral or fish back to singapore is greater because singapore got no quarantine process or rules like Indonesia or Australia. Yesterday, when I was back to Jkarta, the custom of Indo gave me a form of good declaration, in which inside written down I have to declare fish (dead or alive) too Then also, it's difficult to smuggle, every hand-carry must go under x-ray shot! Unlike it used to be.... Fortunately, I did'nt bring any, as a fish shop in balestier told me not to bring anything now, as the custom of singapore is especially tight during the air-show. So, from my observation, if you wanna bring live coral from jakarta to singapore you must 1. never packed it in any kind of box, the custom of changi will certainly tell you to go under X-ray! they are afraid of 'Chicken bird flu' 2.Just bring it on plastic bag, or perhaps like shopping bag. 3. Make sure your airline permits you to do it, some airlines are pretty flexible toward this, but certainly not my yesterday airlines, EMIRATES..But, even without their permission, you still can smuggle it, once you are boarding to the gate, just say that the stuff can't go under x-ray check (open up and let the security see it). make sure you packed them right, make a good presentation to them. Your chances getting through would be 60% (based on other people experience) Btw, if u need help when u r here, don't hesitate to pm me...
  10. Wuahh, many thx for the hospitality of Sgreef members, especially Woonming & Kschew, been very helpful. I did a visit this morning to the closest place in downtown, Reborn aquarium ,and they have yellowtang and purple tangs also, which price 25 & 35 each.. No french, asfur, or queen angelfish though. tomorrow I might try to seek at the pasir ris, before take off back to jakarta...
  11. Hey, same question here, I'm trying to find a way to bring saltwater fish back to home by hand carry, but because of recent bird flu outbreak, and the security at the Jakarta airport is tougher, so every hand carry stuff should go under x-ray exam. Therefore, it would be difficult to bring it back home. I may try to declare it, but at the end the custom officer might ask me to go quarantine, in other word, killing the fish softly... Well, will see what happens...I have no idea if you could bring live fishes to Singapore, dunno whether the authority here would be more harsh? U may try it though, since the clam is not so expensive, and you may declare it. Do Not go through the X-ray check, otherwise you may find yourself having grilled fish
  12. kschew, I'm in Singapore rite now, and will be back Jakarta next week. You may go to Jl.Sumenep (located at central downtown jakarta, Jl. Sudirman), there u find source of saltwater fish market. If you need cheap and quite reliable equipment, you may visit jalan Dr.Muwardi (Grogol). Kartini and other places are only selling freshwater fish. In case u need more info about them, my friend asfur might give u help, just email him at hengky_wijaya@yahoo.com Happy Hunting!
  13. No, I'm afraid not...may be not yet...But, I may tell your idea to the forum, so they might establish english one.... in the mean time, if you need any info about Indonesia reef stuff, just ask me or Asfur (he is in this forum too, and he is the moderator for O-fish saltwater fish)
  14. Neutronics, how much it cost for a golden butterfly? Thx;)
  15. What? Mid size queen or french for SGD125?? So expensive huh? Though it's around 50-75 each....checked it last year (October 03)....Thx for the info anyway....
