  1. I know there is, however I'm worried that I end up messing up my tank because of trial and error, so would like to tap on the expertise of experienced reefers. Always ready to learn from the masters XD Besides, paying for pro job in the long run is safer than hantam buta.
  2. My multiple tank syndrome has currently faded and it appears Marine has taken over. I'd like to convert my 3x2x1.5ft tank to marine. The glass for that tank is 15mm thick. Currently, all I have equipt for that tank is a canister filter. I want to know if there's anyone who can help to convert the tank to marine, including sump. If not, then is there anyone who can advise how I could go about it?
  3. Anyone here keeping these cute little dude care to share some with a noob? I got two the other day, each selecting a burrow on either side of the tank. However, I noticed that they're shy and rarely come out of their burrows if ever. Kind of worried that they're not eating. Any advice? Do I need a deep sand bed? Do I need peppermint shrimp? What about their behaviour - are they nocturnal or diurnal and will they find food on their own? Appreciate any help you can give. These two are the cutest fish in my tank and really hoping they'll do well (i.e. live).
  4. I'd like the eagle-eye zoo if you're willing to take it out of your package.
  5. Lately, both of my cleaner shrimp have developed round bumps on one side of their bodies, which are somewhat yellow in colour. I presume they are healthy as I recently fished out a shed exo-skeleton so they must be doing well enough to grow at least. One bump is about the size of two thirds of a pea currently. Is this normal?
  6. Interested in frag 1 Collection details?
  7. Any chance there's some of the frags still available?
  8. I guess you could get stuff like Bali Stars, Mushrooms, and zooanthids - the Java Ferns and Nanas of the coral world lol. My tank is only up and running for 4 months and I still don't dare progress to the soft corals for fear of massive money-burnage.
  9. Nevermind - idiot was found in the filter... That fish has named himself Blutard.
  10. I was rearranging rocks near the top of my tank today and I saw my blue tang dart into a cave. However now, I can't seem to find him anywhere, and I checked under the rocks I moved and he wasn't there. I hate when a $35 fish suddenly vanishes - is this normal behaviour? Do tangs just vanish or is he just... still hiding? I also added two cleaner shrimp today. I don't think they would cause any problem...
  11. Hi all, I'm a seahorse n00b and a great deal of their behaviour perplexes me. My tank is more than a month in age, has live rocks, live sand and corals which actually survive. I bought a seahorse yesterday from Jireh, and I noticed that it tends to slump down amidst my bamboo when it hooks there. Sometimes it even sort of lays on the sand and doesn't move. It is breathing, its eyes are also quite alert and it ate brine shrimp today (haven't had time to pick up mysid). Is this behaviour normal? What sort of other behaviours do they exhibit that are strange?
  12. Well, update on tank... Both green wrasses died and I haven't seen the yellow one for days. I'm frustrated and perplexed. My Ammonia, nitrites still read 0 while my nitrates read 5ppm. My pH is still 8.0 AND YET!!! Carnage. Sushi on a grand scale -__-. Strangely, my inverts seem to be doing okay... I'll just do the cheap water from NTUC thing... After all, changing 6 litres a week... It should be okay right? For a 62l/16gallon tank?
  13. Hello all, I have a question about the best sources of water for a marine tank. What type of water is best? Artificial or natural sea water? If I use artificial, which is more cost effective and chemically safest - R.O. water or using a water purifier with tap water? Does anyone know of good suppliers of R.O./purifiers? If I use natural, who supplies the safest and (hopefully) most economical water? This is the scenario so far... I just started a new marine tank. It's 2ft with the jireh marine starter kit and about 5kg of live rocks (some pieces from my smaller tank which is 4 months old and started the reef madness...). My filter has Reefmax All-zorb and biorings. It is supplemented with bacteria tablet things, trace elements, magnesium, strotium, iodine, calcium and carbonate. My tank's average temperature with a fan is 29-28 degrees. My ammonia is at 0ppm, nitrites at 0ppm, nitrates at 0-5ppm pH at 8.0. In my tank I have: Fish and inverts: -2 false percula -2 green wrasse -1 yellow wrase -1 blue tang -2 blue-legged hermits -1 turbo snail -1 small anemone -1 big anemone (which is hiding...) -1 blue star -1 red star -1 corcea clam Corals: -1 moon coral -7 polyps of mushrooms However, despite the bloody expensive media, bloody expensive supplements and bloody expensive salt (why is everything marine so bloody expensive ;-;?), I noticed that I still have diatoms on my sand bed... also, my mother's beloved blue tang just hit the dirt yesterday after 48 hours in my tank and the other tang has developed what I think is marine ich - white spots on body. I really don't want to lose any more livestock because they are also bloody expensive >_< I must have been mad to start this wonderful hobby lol. I have a strong suspicion that it's my water. Before I head off to buy more (bloody) expensive equiptment, I think I need to seek advice from the veterans here. Thanks in advance for your advice!
