nope, its an Aquarium Systems Millenium filter. the tiny particles have somewhat cleared up a little now. Water also looks better.

i just killed 3 crabs with my stainless steel scissors. now i bought a tweezer that is long enough to go into their holes! death to the crabs!

i killed about three crabs yesterday. left maybe 1 or 2 more. i also found 2 dead smaller different type of crabs, suspect they were killed by those murderous creatures. i took the LR out and use this scissors to get them out. whats left of them is this pincer in the sand. ha ha.

I also saw these long red branches they call some sort of algae, seems like a nice thing to put in my tank.

Okie here's my cycle so far. I am at Day 9 now. First couple of days, tank went cloudy. Bacteria boom i suppose? After that clear up and there are little particles circulating but they disappeared soon after tt. Now few days ago, i throw in this fish meat in this bottle, hoping to catch the crabs. however the crabs took the meat and escaped under my very eyes. Soon after that i discovered these tiny hair/dust particles in the water. They are saturated with it! I am using a hang on filter with carbon/filter cartridge. I also notice the cartridge gets filled with some yellow substance, then i always wash it every few days. I hope my water gets cleared again....

Now these full stop thingies have stopped. But now my water has these little dust like (tiny hair) particles suspended in the water. there are tons of them! What are they? Is this normal as i am cycling my tank. Then there are some of these little creatures like ants on the front glass. Help!

Yesh, i would also like to ask, does newly mixed water reach a pH of 8.0 and above? I measured the ph of my tank after i placed LR and sand in, and it's only about 7.7?

ummm the opening of the chicken essence bottle isn't curved in rite, so how would they be trapped? maybe can use a small mineral water bottle like the NEwater one.

Here's mine with LR just placed in.

I'm using JBL Testkit for Ammonia, followed instructions but the solution ended up dark brown where else on the chart are only shades of green. I used the nitrate test kit for my fresh water tank before, and that was ok. Anyone using this test kit can advise me?

I just placed LR into my tank 2 days back. And today i see these tiny particles about the size of this full stop . circulating in my tank. There are lots of them! But not to the extent that they are cloudy or something. What are they? I tried searching some forums and came across them as FOOD for the fish?

Hmmm, seems like i will have to make a trap too...or maybe i will take my rock out later...only spoted 2 rocks with crabs so far and those crabs just hang around their rocks, they never seem to go else where. i fed one with a tetra bit.

Now i spotted 2 tiny crabs in my LR. Will they survive the cycle?
