From the pic of your hood, there dont seem to be any vent or fan in your hood to help hot air escape. It look good from outside but it traps heat in your tank. Results if using chiller - overwork chiller and high elect bill with time in between chiller not running shorten.

but like the others said, do u need to set the temp so low? i did just to try. my temp is normally between 25.4 - 26.4

the 1/3 shouldnt be a problem. i tried both the 1/3 and 1/2 on my 5ft. i am using 2x250mh & 2x54watt t5 antinic on a 5x2x2.5 with a 3.5x1.5x1.5 sump. the 1/3 took just over 1 hr to cool by 1 deg and i set it to 24.5. i settle for the 1/2 hp cos it only took 1/2 hour to cool by 1 deg and drop the temp below 25 with ease. I didnt choose the 1/3 cos it was only a slight improvement from my 1/2hp techo and i wanted big in case i upgrade tank or change to 400watt lighting

Well so far so good. 3 of them have been in there since the tank started. The rest was added once in awhile With the latest addition more than 2 weeks liao. I do keep track of my water condition and so far so good. NO2 is zero, NO3 is 2.5 - 5ppm. I do week - bi weekly water change.

Hmm... can also. For me, the water change just involved shutting down my return tank. Empty the sump and fill it with fresh water and add salt. use a pump to circulate between the first and last chamber for a couple of hours and switch the return pump back on. dont have sand or anything in sump. just skimmer so this way is easyt.

Actually, no algae problem unless you count coraline la. ke ke.. think it's the lighting. The rocks on the left is nearer to the Antinics due to the overflow. So it always looks bluer in the photo. Current the only alage problem I have is these on the glass which I need to wipe weekly with a magnet.

Tank size is 5x2x2.5ft. Sump is 3.5x1.5x1.5. I know. but still trying to avoid rescaping rock leh. nowadays lazy to stick my hand in liaoz! ke ke.... But I will. the one on the top left doing much better than the other 2.
