Hi kiko, you mentioned ur clown fishes lay eggs once every fortnight?? Sounds very reproductive. Are all clown fishes like that or how do I actually choose clown fishes that can breed? It seems really very interesting to watch the eggs grow. How do I differentiate the eggs? A mass of jelly like substance floating on the water surface?
yes they do.. once they lay eggs the first time, they'll just keep laying every 2-3 weeks... only mated/paired clownfish have a chance of breeding... you can either pay a premium to get paired/breeding clownfish, or you can choose to pair them up yourself.... personally i would choose to pair them up myself...
if you wanna find out more, you can check out this website.. quite an interesting read...
http://www.breedclownfish.com/
eggs look like the toppings of orangy tobiko sushi... haha..
they'll spend a few days cleaning an area of the rock they would lay their eggs on,
and lay their eggs there once they're ready...
i'm not an expert in raising the babies, always feel sad to know that these babies always hatch to be fish food eventually...
a good place to get nice clownfishes would be CoralFarm...
Hey ig.. hows the powder black doing?
Any updates?
hey wilson,
powder black doing well...
little signs of white spots once inawhile,
but it'll go off after awhile..
feeding greedily too...
hopefully i can raise and sustain this beauty...
looks like i got to put off my dream of adding an AT on hold for awhile...

just a suggestion...
instead of allowing number of posts,
if its possible,
ensure new members who post in pasar malam to be at least actively involve for at least a few months here in this forum...

i wanted hermit crab but bf said they will disturb the corals.. wah abalone?! They are the edible ones? Will they attack the corals? I have read that Nassarius snails, though they are excellant detritus eaters, but they could potentially become a pest because they reproduce too rapidly???
trust me once u see the abalone in the reef tank, you wont feel like having them for your next meal
get a few Nassarius snails... interesting to watch..
they'll all be under the sand and once they detect the smell of food,
you'll start to see all of them climbing out from the sand...
dont worry about them reproducing too rapidly,
wont be so bad to the extent that they become a pests...

wilson, i won't risk adding a PblT to your tank la... if you want, wait a few monthes, everything mature, add a nice size AT as showfish!
But my show fish is the Queen. Hehe.. AT still remains as a dream...
yea.. powder series tangs can be quite scary...
my latest addition of powder black,
should be one of my last few fishes in i hope
now crossing my fingers and toes,
hopefully it doesnt break out into ich or any other complications that will affect my other fishes..
-
haha.. you should, very nice tank and nice guy.. my ex-neighbour (so you know where liao right?)
great!
its near my place then
-
Wow, very nice!
Would love to see ur tank in person one day

Of cos the coral beauty is nice! Haha.. Have to see who was it's previous owner...
Flame angel from LCK about 3months ago...
Did a short research on this forum on 'whitecheek tang', few topics of powder blue ripping powder black apart came up..
Better not take the risk with 2 powder series... Haha...

My breeding pair of clownfishes!
they lay eggs every 2 weeks...
always so sad to see these babies end up as fish food...
their eggs are always laid on the main rocks,
not possible for me to remove them...
i've placed small rocks around their area,
hopefully one day i would have the chance to raise the babies..
one of my first few inhabitants in my tank
i've been thinking if i should find another partner for it..
not sure if its easy to pair them...
a pair of flame angels would look very nice..
surprisingly, always so shy...
