  1. Based on my few months of observation after converted to LED from MH light, the LPS responded well to the new lighting... as for SPS, it will depend on the types of the coral... In general, I am able to get good colour, in fact better colour for purple and green staghorns. However, I got mixed results with Millis.. It might still early for me to make the conclusion....just two cents of my input...
  2. Frankly spreaking, I don't think 2 set of LumenAqua UltraBrite LED system (1.5W white LED X 80 Chips + 1.5W blue LED x 40 Osram Chips each set - 180W) can provide sufficient lighting for my 6 feet SPS ominated tank with a deepth of 2.5 feet.. As such, after some researchs and considerations, I embarked on a journey to design and custom build a more powerful main LED system. The following are the specification of the main LED systsem: 90cm x 42cm x 6cm (3 x 30W 15000K White LED + 36 x 3W White + 36 x 3W Blue + 6 x 1W 403 NM Royal Blue) with 3-way timer, temperature controller , adjustable intensity and colour temperature for Blue/White LED. After 3-4 weeks of anxiously waiting, the system finally arrived before the x'mas in 2011.. The main feature of this LED system is the specificially added latest 3 x 30W ultra brigth 15000K white LED.. Overall, the main LED provides a total of 310W output which, in technically spreaking, equal to, if not better than, the two LumenAqua UltraBrite LED systems.

  6. New year new Pasar Malam toys... I had made a major decision in Nov/Dec 2011 to switch to LED technology lightings with the aim to provide a less expensive (in the long run) but flexible and specific lighting environments for the corals. One of the best things of this new LED technology is the flexibility for me to “fine tune” the intentsity and the colour temperatures of LED Lights based on the specific requirement of the corals (espeically for my SPS). This specific lighting configuration can be stored and controlled with the build-in timer and controller to provide different magnitudes of light spectrum at specific timing of the day or night. For example, to obtain the colour temperature of 20000K, I can adjust the capacity of the two rows of white LED at 99% and the single row of blue LED at 39% on the LemenAqua UltraBrite controller. For those who are considering switching to LED, here are some information and comparison with MH and T5 for your reference.. http://www.oceanus-light.com/led.html
