  1. Hi all...

I just got some chaeto pass down from another reefer which is too much for his own use.

Would like to share this with rest of the reefer.

Do pm me if you need it so that i prepare it and not waste it.

    Location would be Hougang.

Tomorrow after 7.30pm would be good.

  2. Quick update on the umibudo seaweed ( Caulerpa lentillifera ) from Hokkaido.

The portion below was leftover and given by my wife’s colleague upon request.

    Hi Jeebusai,

Thanks for the reply. Spot on with your comments, waiting time for Reefer 250 is 2 months. And i prefer to have the sump and piping made to my design. Again the Reefer tanks are beautiful with the rimless design, but i may not be able to spare the time needed to maintain the look. Cabinet wise, with a 24" width, hopefully i can squeeze more things inside!

I have emailed a few makers in Singapore and a JB maker from facebook for quotes but all no reply yet. I don't mind paying for quality work but I hope not to kena chop carrot head. Let's see how things goes.

    Cheers

    Hi bro.

Not sure which maker you have send or visit, i think personally that is better you drop by their shop to discuss and much faster.

As for low iron glass, the price is much higher and clearer ( depends on individual viewing perspective ) and is also earlier get scratch during maintenance.

For customs made, you can select choice of silicon glue color and brands which wont add up any additional cost.

You may try talk to Sandra but I get from his brother as I only get the tank done.

Now what i have is my own acrylic tank.

    Oceanviper Bro,

Best DIY job I have seen in Singapore, why not you can create an Youtube Channel to share on your knowledge and ideas in Youtube like "The King of DIY" which located in Canada. I being watching his Video on all his DIY job and learn quite a number things from Him. But due to he is in Canada, the price he spend and some item is not available in Singapore. Since you in Singapore you maybe can share the process and things that you use and purchase from where.

Espcially come to Wood and Acrylic Singapore is like.. Where is all DIY shop..

Give you Both BIG THUMBS up from your DIY.. hope to see more..

    Edmund

    Hi Edmund bro.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm just one out of the millions DIY gurus there.

I only get the material from local shops and use my home power tools to cut etc.

Is difficult for me to post any video as I'm not a full time DIY, just doing it for own appreciation.

I don't mind share my experience...just pm me and we can discuss rather than giving pointers....as I'm still learning here.

Don't know to appreciate the tank making skills or the reefing skills.  Guess both:lol:

    Hi Aloy bro.

Is just my own personal interest on DIY.

  5. Not much changes except for making constant weekly water change.

And add a DIY float switch to do auto-top

    image2.JPG.image1.JPG

And also added  macro algae after clear off the sea grape and chaeto from Kevin.

    Thanks Kevin ( iwarna )

  6. After migration to the new tank with NSW plus using existing rocks, the parameter swing a lot plus major reduction in the bacteria. Seeing diatoms but not as much as typical new cycling tank process.

Constantly dosing bacteria to replenish the die off...now seeing the corals PE and also pulsing xenia that survived has started to stay floating.

Some xenia which felt off from the rocks also encrusted on the acrylic base.

Will DIY another set of LED lighting for this configuration.

May I know where you purchase the valves from? Are you using Schedule 40 pvc pipes?

    Hi bro.

    I'm using 25mm valves.

I bought it from Hai Cheong located at Kallang Way.

    Hi bro.

I'm not a expert....just doing for my own interest and also more flexible in selecting the material as what I have texted you.

Just wondering where you get those woods to diy? Planning to diy a wood if the cost is lower than asking someone to make

    Hi bro.

Is depend on the types of wood as it varies accordingly.

With proper tools and space to do the DIY, probably the cost is lower comparing using the same types of materials.

May i know how you came out with this design? For your sump?

I would like to know what kinds of lights are you using. AI? plus how you do up the frame?

    Hi Sharon.

I'm design based on the overflow configuration used and also how i have the compartment for the sump tank.

As for the lights, I'm not using any selling from LFS or off-the-shelves, I do my own LED lighting.

  12. Another thing. All the plumbing at the back any plans to concea it? Or are you allowing nature to take it's course and let the build up of coraline algae do the job.

    No plan to conceal it.
Let the nature do the work..
