  1. juz wondering, who appointed the board of directors? seems like for ms maltida case, she was recommended by a colleague of durai and he accepted. hmm no wonder the board gave him everything... cos he put them there. i scratch ur back, u scratch mine. oppss i may be sued. but what the heck, it is a chance to engage davinder and get more worms out in the open hahahaha

  2. if u not going for classy furniture, ie those italian made sofa, etc go novena or nova etc. dun pay too much for furniture cos when time to get rid of them, no value one. if u pay low, at least can change furniture often. that is my policy nowadays.

reno contractors also depends on your house design. if u like classy arty farty type, then have to pay liao.

i like normal plain setup and i juz design some parts myself so i got a normal hdb contractor to do for me. one thing bad about my contractor is i got to chase him to collect money  krkrkr first flat, chase for 1 month then he come collect. current place, chase for 2 weeks! very unlike others. got one contractor, ask for 1k deposit juz to sign up with him! i asked him F off.

  3. untouchables from SMU too?

    smu??? :P

found out that toshiba is not among the successful tenderer this time round so only left ibm and fujitsu.

go for tablet but screen a bit small. i still prefer tablet cos can scribble, etc. dun need pen and paper liao.

dun get mac etc cos you will be one of those oddballs who cannot connect to the wireless lan and you may be forced to use vpn secure connection since encryption using wep or .1x is not supported on mac.

if u wanna get ibm, hold back juz a little cos a technology refresh is coming, so for the same price, you get the highest end cpu... gonna happen soon i think. heard it from ibm due to intel cuting prices for their highest end chip.

  4. smu promotes advanced learning methods and using notebook in a high tech classroom setup is juz one of the many examples. that being said, a tablet is best.

lenovo (was ibm) is normal screen while toshiba and fujitsu are tablets. you should get from smu since they package office, av, etc all in for the price you see.

i personally prefer toshiba but am using a fujitsu rite now. suggest you compare both and put weight as priority. smu city campus has lots of power points so u can plug in anytime for power if ur bat runs low. ibm and fujitsu has on-site engineers so if there are serious problems, you can get it checked out faster than toshiba.

all come with 3 years warranty and by the time you graduate, the notebook can sell as scrap metal liao. technology moves too fast...

  5. Bro, Vios seems too small for me leh. I am 95kg leh. ;)

then latio is the car for u. get the sports version, which is better in looks so can impress a bit. lots of space inside for your size/weight.

oso fc friendly. dun be fooled by nissan poor fc reputation cos this is new engine, new technology, new design. better fc than altis!

  6. Thanks for all feedback. Really helpful from all you experienced owners.

Pls don't race each other. Not worth the risk. I very old man with poor eyesights too. Just need a economy car to drive family around as well as for work. I get summoned for driving too slow in inner-most lane :paiseh: . Pls don't horn me if you see a slow Lance or Sunny hor, pls !!

Why is life so never perfect? I like the Lancer pickup and fuel consumption economy but the Sunny's spaciousness. Price wise quite close these 2 models. Too bad I don't have extra money to go for 1 with style, fuel economy, sporty looks, speed.....etc :( .

Considered the Jazz before, really nice with sport accessories. But my family all can't fit into the car and I need a boot to put things too. Really love Honda cars and Toyota ( Toyota Celica, those 2-door MatchBox car :fear: ) during my hay-days way back.

Now headache thinking/comparing too much. Maybe try to win the Striats Times contest for a car now on-going this week.

Cheers to all and be safe on the road !! DON'T SPEED AND RACE.

bro, im like u but not as old :P but after taking into considerations all the aspects like fc, space, comfort, affordability, performance, blah blah blah i ended up with latio. hahaha compromised on the looks a bit (but i dun really care for looks). pickup can fight altis, beat sunny, ciak lancer kekeke

bros who drive sunny, im pretty sure u can beat lancer. juz becos lancer peak torque at 2750rpm does not mean u cannot ciak them. u juz need to hit 4000rpm quickly can already. but the first few metres u will be lag... so dun worie, juz go for it. u will overtake before the next traffic light. go try kekeke but drive safely

  7. i thot the new version is quite nice??? in fact, most people i know is waiting for it.

for sedan, civic is the best choice but why not consider hatchbacks??? more sporty and nice. price around 70-72k for latio sports, which i find it better looking that others in its category and fc friendly. big and roomy interior as well.

  8. See the differences...

    Mitsubishi Lancer

    Type : SOHC

    Cylinder : in-line 4-cylinder, 16-valve

    Displacement : 1584 cc

    Max Output : 79(106)/6,000kW(PS)/rpm

    Max Torque : 142(14.5)/2,750N-m(kg.m)/rpm

    Nissan Sunny

    Engine type : QG16DE, DOHC 16-valve with CVTC, ETC, 4 cylinder, in-line

    Displacement (cc) : 1597

    Max. Power : (@ 6000 rpm) 81kW(110 ps)

    Max. Torque : (@ 4000 rpm) 148Nm(15.1 kg-m)

Lancer will have a better pick up because Max. Torque comes in earlier at 2750rpm compared to Sunny's at 4000rpm.

High end wise...Sunny's bhp is slightly better by 4 horses...

Fuel comsumption wise...Lancer will win hands down lah....but will also depend on how heavy ur right foot is.

    hope this helps.

    ;)

bro, u tried both before? i race u... u take lancer, i take sunny. confirm u sure smell my smoke :P

go test drive and u will know what is on paper is different from actual. i juz helped test drive a few cars for my cousin. lancer is the most cmi of the 55-65k range cars of jap cars.

  9. suggest you try driving both to feel the performance cos im pretty sure the lancer is weaker than sunny...

    lancer pros:

better looking, esp with body kits

    better fc

    more road feel

    lancer cons:

    loud engine

    weaker performance

    rough and hard ride

    expensive servicing at c&c

    sunny pros:

    comfortable ride

    lower price

good and cheap after sales warranty and service package

    more power and performance

    sunny cons:

higher fc but not as bad as the pre fl n16

    not as swee as lancer

pros and cons are based on comparison between lancer cvt/manual and sunny auto/manual.

  10. my reason was space and environment... this is subjective since each has their own tolerance for comfort and mess.

equipment wise, u need at least a footprint of at least 8x2 if u take into consideration a sump, chiller, skimmer, cr, fr, etc. then u need good ventilation for chiller and mh lights. in addition, lights from marine tank may be too bright if put in living room area so how???

i have seen many reefers who keeps their tanks even in their room but my tolerance is low for such matters. even on a normal day, i already cannot stand the heat, talk about all those other heat sources from marine tank!

and i seldom see a marine tank in a neat house due to equipment everywhere. even if it is neat, it probably occupies a large area like a room (think AT). and with govt building 3 bedrooms flats only, assume you have 2 kids, is there any place left???

so i sacrificed my reef tank for a more comfortable living. it is all about priorities in life and unfortunately, marine is not ranked top 3, after all, it is just a hobby.

    cheers!

  11. it is not that they dun want to get married but juz think of how their lives will change after marriage...

    1. look after husband

    2. look after kids

    3. no more ###### cos she is faithful but hubby prefer to "eat outside"

    4. no more outings, either to pubs or with friends

    5. no more shopping cos money goes to family expenses

    blah blah blah

    being single means she can

    1. look after herself only

    2. no kids!

    3. more ###### cos single and can get any guy she wants!

    4. daily outings cos no other commitments

    5. daily shopping cos what she earns is for herself

    blah blah blah

    for men, marriage means

    1. no more doing housework (not that we do cos mum does it!)

    2. got kids but no need to look after (got "maid")

    3. more ###### cos can get laid 3 weeks out of a month for free. still got money to "eat outside"

    4. still can go out to pubs cos wife will not tag along due to looking after kids

    5. still can spend on hobby like marine keeping cos wife supporting family expenses

see??? no wonder men are desparate wherease women are not.

  12. i always feel that a couple should foot the bill together and all angpows go to them. no parents (both sides) should be involved... how many tables for each side is up to the parents to invite but since the couple is keeping the angpows, it does not matter rite???

thats for wedding dinner... as for bride money, juz pay a reasonable sum. im sure the girl would not want the guy to be flat broke after marriage rite??? if her parents demand a ransom figure, then say bye bye to the girl. u are marrying for love and so should she and if her parents cant see that and see agrees with them, i dun think she is worth it.

oh by the way, my bride money was $0, dinner held in malaysia. my parents foot everything, including expenses for my in law to travel from sg to my. since my parents foot everything, they kept all the angpows. in the end, my parents juz took back their investment and the "profits" was given to us.

this way, both my wife and myself start off our new life "debt free" and with some pocket money. both parents on each side dun gain a thing except the happiness of their child getting married. fair rite?

but hor... my parents, in laws, wife and myself are chin chai type of people, hence we can able to come to such arrangements.

  13. i do agree that having cash on u makes u look much confident ..

Let me Quote u an example ...

Near to 10 yrs ago ..  my dad business just bloom.. so he decided to get himself a credit card .. before that he uses cash all the time.. just imagine.. taking out a stack for $50 dollars from the pocket as its too thick to put in the wallet.. :ooh:

then after he got his new credit card.. we went to buy furniture for our new home ..

we bought so much things until it nearly reach the card limit.. wat happen is that .. the shop sales person made us waited for 1 hr ..

We have no choice but to wait as they dun believe that my dad can pay for all those .. they suspect that he could be using a fake card .. so they detain my dad's credit card and his Ic.. while they call the card center.. and the card center call the police to make sure the card wasn't stolen or fake ..

In the fit of anger, my dad took out a stack of notes.. $500 in total .. throw on the table .. tell them to take it as deposit .. take down all the details on the ic then return the ic.. Instantly .. their expression change .. Sir here and Sir there .. before we leave .. my dad told them .. " when u decide to do my business give me a call .. not only those that dress in shirt and tie can aford all those things we have bought"

it does not work this way leh... ur dad experience is probably due to the dumb sales person, nothing to do with card legitimity, etc.

when u charge to a card, as long as the swipe goes thru, the shop does not care anymore. unless it is an offline swipe but only up to signature matching and/or proof of identity.

why??? too long to explain but if u r keen to know, do ur own read up and research, more satisfying :P
