  1. The clams are very nice. Noticed that your tank has no lid/cover. Be careful fishes may jump out. i've lost many fishes this way.
  2. Thank you for the kind words. I am not using chiller. I'm using 2 dymax vortex fans during the day. Day time temp is about 28-29C. As i am home at night, the air-con will be turned on. This will cause a drop in temp to about 25-26C. The fans will caused fast evaporation that is why i'm using an osmolator to auto top-up the water so that water parameters will not fluctuate too wildly.
  3. Last week's Maldives shipment has no Midas blenny. hopefully this week has. Not gg all the way to LCK tho.
  4. Let's hope it's not some hitchhiker that comes with your live rocks that are feeding on your fish...
  5. Thank you. A nano tank can be as satisfying as a big tank. Esp if you are able to achieve equilibrium-steady-state without the need of expensive equipments. Maintenance wise is not too time consuming too. Just remember to change 15-20% water once a week, add additives and water top-ups daily, and scrub the tank algae regularly.
  6. bio ring and some filter media.
  7. Thanks bro. It is blowing from right to left however the reflection of the waves makes the corals sway towards the right.
  8. Sealife has some hawain yellow tangs, a small flame angel and other normal livestocks. Expecting shipment from Philippines tmr.
  9. You are welcome. Just wondering, what is the dimension of the 2ft tank u are looking? Mine is 2ft but it isnt very tall and wide. So the water capacity is about 10ga (about 40 litre), which is good to place it on a table. I've read threads here of elaborate 2ft setups involving sump, chiller, refugium, new cabinets, piping etc. which i feel is only justified if you are doing a 3ft tank and beyond. Otherwise, all the trouble may not be worth it. Floorspace is expensive now! The only worry i have is when will my silicon give way and tank starts leaking...
  10. you are welcome. I got mine from Madpetz. It's really a god-send. haha. I jus need to fill up my pail of water. And the osmolator does the rest thru out the day.
  11. Hello! I'm glad you ask this question. It is POSSIBLE to run a 2ft tank with no sump and no chiller. However, some things to take note of 1. Use fans if not using chiller. Need to cool down temp to below 30C if keeping corals. May need as many as 2 fans. 2. Use distilled water for top up and water change. This will reduce phosphate as our tap water containers phosphate. May want to get phosphate remover in case. 3. Frequent top up is necessary due to evaporation. Get an osmolator to help u auto top up. This will reduce the water parameters (such as salinity) from swinging too wildly. 4. Invest on water conditioners. Small tanks are prone to high ammonia and nitrate build-up. Make sure you have those water conditioner that helps to reduce these. Also keep a watch out on pH value. 5. Invest on test kits. Critical must have test kits are ammonia, nitrate, pH, kH, phosphate. The rest are good to have. 6. Get a HOB skimmer to reduce nutrients in your water. Helps to maintain better water quality. From my experience, nitrate is the key element you should watch out for. Too much of it will kill your livestocks and corals will not open, and eventually die. Visit my thread for more info about my tank.
  12. thanks bro...it is very far from me. i'm only able to travel to places that are accessible via public transport.
  13. Please view the video of the current state of my tank. My skimmer is turned on 24/7 and it doesnt make a lot of noise. The noise comes from the Dymax Vortex Fans.
  14. There are 2 fat ones! Asked already they willing to sell but say cannot catch.
  15. I'm looking for MIDAS Blenny! Where can I find the elusive midas?
  16. Take heed: If getting 6-lined wrasse, may be challenging to add more wrasses to your tank cos it gets quite territorial.
  17. strontium, trace elements, iodide, plankton, calcium, magnesium.
  18. It's not big. Just need to insert a circular sensor device into the tank. Diameter is about 5cm, attached by magnet. It's by Tunze, nano osmolator.
  19. It used to pulsate vigourously nowadays less.
  20. Great! I was wondering if i can use it but that would also mean i need to change my alkali water filter more often!
  21. Has anyone used such water for their tank? I'm refering to those water filtered from our home drinking water systems such as Alkali water. Understand that these water are filtered through several filter stages.
  22. I'm using an Eheim AquaCompact60 and only recently realised that it is not made for a marine tank But since it has been working well, chose to ignore the fact. I like the compact size which no other canister filter is able to provide. The HOB device is a RIO nano skimmer. Wouldnt say the best skimmer available but it certainly beats the dymax one that is designed for IQ5. This skimmer doubles up as a filter as well which i added some marine bio filter material to absorb harmful substances such as ammonia, metals etc. Recently my water level suffered as I havent been paying much attention to the nitrate level. That's the peril of a nano tank but fortunately managed to arrest the situation in time to reduce loss of livestocks. I have no space for chaeto refugium and is dependant only on water changes and chemical buffer to remove nitrate and phosphate. I have also recently installed a nano osmolator to auto top up water caused by high evapration rate of running 2 dymax vortex fan. It's a great investment cos it also allows me to chill my pail of water with ice bottles so the water that goes into the display tank will further cool the tank temperature.
