  1. me too. Highest setting available on my laptop is also 1024 x 768
  2. Thanks for sharing. An eye opener on what can be done to a powerhead
  3. stunning mate! Like the topview angle very much. A polarising filter may get rid of the reflection and give truer color which means more punch
  4. Nice reef. Great photos. Good eye candy
  5. if its only the crown that fell off, then it might grow a new crown again. Most likely reason for the falloff is lack of food.
  6. Thanks Michael. ok, so the 0.7 is juz a rough guide. Cause if the 1.25l of kalk is dripped slow enough to a strong flow area, the increas in ph would then be smaller.
  7. Be careful with the use of PH buffer if I may add. Because some PH buffer raise alkalinity as well. IMHO, get cal and alk in balance first and then tackle the PH issue after that. Many factors could contribute to low ph :- - low alk - high co2 indoor - the use of calcium reactor etc... Another good Randy's article on ph http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/june2002/chem.htm With the cal/alk in balance, dripping kalk would be useful to get a healthy ph reading in addition to your normal routine cal/alk supplements. my 2 cents
  8. Hi Michael, i could arrive at the increase of 10ppm calcium if 1.25 litres of saturated kalk is added to a 100 litre tank using this useful chemistry calculator http://www.kademani.com/reefchem.htm Wondering how do you arrive at the 0.7 increase in ph ? Is there another uselful online calculator also ?
  9. Thanks guys. Glad that you find it useful. ryz, First of all, u need to check the specs of your camera if it supports raw format A sample specs :- Image formats :TIFF, RAW, JPEG (EXIF 2.2) If it does, then it should be under "image quality" or something similar in the camera settings Again an example :- Image quality : RAW, Super fine, Fine, Standard, Economy In the above example, the manual would state that "Super fine" image would be saved as .tiff and the rest as .jpg. Raw is self explanatory.
  10. At times, if not most of the time, the pics we took of our tank takes on a color hue. There are a few methods to set the white balance right before we snap the pic. But what I'm trying to share here is the method of adjusting the WB after the pics are taken. The answer is to shoot the pics in raw format . Common format available in digi cam is jpeg, tiff and raw. So if your camera supports raw, maybe you like to give it a try. After transferring the raw file to the pc, you will need a "raw viewer" software (which normally comes with the camera) to open it, adjust the WB, and then save it as .tiff or .jpg Below are a few screenshot of my minolta raw viewer. Under the whitebalance dropdown list, u can c that there are a few preset WB i can choose from eg daylight, cloudy etc... The colour temp is also displayed on the top right corner. For the above, its 7539K This one has a colour cast towards red/magenta. Lets pick daylight and see the difference ... Already much better. Note the colour temp now reflect 5500k How about cloudy ... Not bad also. Colour temp is now 6027K But if u prefer something in between daylight and cloudy, u could even manually input the colour temp. Lets pick something in between, 5800K Get the drift ? Hope u find this useful.
  11. have been drooling over your nice pics. For color hue, why don't u try to shoot in raw format ? Raw format allows you to adjuct the WB after the pic is taken. juz my 2 cents
  12. is it this one ? http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...pic=14562&st=15
  13. wow, the pics are power man! Canon still rules in the digi cam market. More pics pls
  14. yeah, i was juz kidding. if i could get 1 in 20, would be very happy already

  16. thanks terryansimon. How i wish i could attain sniper status of 1 shot 1 kill
  17. Thanks man I've seen some amazing shots taken with external flash. I think i will be hooked for quite a while Anyway, like i said, there is no film cost. So i just keep shooting
