  3. Want to sell a soft modded Wii (able to play games off hard disk), bought less than a year (but lost the receipt).Rarely used. Comes with all accessories from original packing, wii sports and 2 sets of controller with nunchuck (no hard disk provided). Looking at $280. PM me for more details. Collection at yishun mrt

  4. One more point, the hole between 1st & 2nd compartment should be larger than the return hole in 3rd compartment.

I.e. In below diagram, if hole "B" is 0.5 inch, then hole "A" should be about 0.75 inch in size.

This is to ensure water flow smoothly from 1st into 2nd when your return pump starts drawing water.

    Thanks Tunicate,

This is good details, i get what you mean. But was wondering if there will be alot of dead spot within the tank around the round piping. Do you think if there is any chance i can make the round filter sock into a square (is the ring refoldable? so might be able to stuff it at the over flow) Really appreciate all the effort you put into coming out with the blue print

  5. Sounds good as long as your Tunze do not emit microbubbles into the main tank.

Oh, one more thing about overflow. Filter sock has been gaining popularity among many of us. Try to have an overflow that can fit in one instead of the regular filter wool tray would be good.

My tunze is currently in my nano cube tank, so far never observed any micro bubbles. Yesterday, contacted another tank maker with my 3 compartment sump, they seem to be able to build the sump to my preference. If that materialised, i can hide the skimmer in my sump area as planned.

Thought about using filter sock but fitting it into a internal sump will be tricky. Thought of using pipes for the overflow where the flow straight to the middle of the sump where the sock can be attached below. However might afraid that the flow of water into the IOS is slower or restricted. Do you have any idea in mind on how it can be designed?

  6. Agreed, but it's not a very serious problem. I actually use this visual cue to remind myself to top-up my office tank.

On the other hand, an IOS tank will keep water level in your main tank constant, while the last IOS compartment water will drop due to evaporation. And it usually drops more drastically due to its smaller capacity. When its level drops near your return pump, you'll get massive micro-bubbles. I use IOS tank at home & monitor water level in this compartment on a daily basis.

Thanks Tunicate this give me a good idea. I will just stuff my skimmer in on side of my main compartment since water will be constant. The IOS will be good to put all my media like carbon, etc. And some sponges for big matter in the tank.

  7. After looking at the Eco-system HOB refugium pic, I notice it uses an inverted U-shape tube to siphon water from main tank into refugium. I feel that this design is risky as the siphon make break causing the return pump in the refugium to run dry eventually. Comparatively, a HOB filter box design is still more reliable as its pump is used to draw water from main tank, then overflowing back. In addition, its pump is mount under the filter thus contributing less heat to the water. If you're to engage a tank maker to customize it, this design would be more reliable.

Agree bro. Might ask tank maker to fabricate something that attached to the back. But do not really like the how the water return from the HOB (water evaporation always tend to introduce some microbubbles.

  8. As mentioned in my message to you, Tank Maker - YongHua.

Nope, i am pretty happy with the size. no need to improve further for a simple tank.

Sorry bro, abit blur these day. Did not realise i asked that question 2 times. Thanks for input. Seems like there is a couple ways to go about customizing the tank. If i am getting the ecosystem setup, it seems redundant to make a ios in the tank. Will have to see what can the tank maker do :)

  9. As per bro Peacemaker has suggested, below link is my office hang-on filter where I DIY a skimmer into it. You'd just need to find a larger hang-on filter to accommodate your Tunze9002.

    Thanks Bro,

Will try looking around for a HOB that is higher interms of height. if not have to cut and add a big container behind, which will be very tricky (to hold that properly due to weight of water and the skimmer)
