don't feed frozen brine. get frozen mysis. it's cheap and way way better.
oh dear a crocea clam. we're opening up a new can of worms here.
crocea clams require the highest ligtning requirement out of all tridacnid clams. may i ask what light you are using?
Yes will get that mysis^^ did not know brine that's lousy =.=
my lighting is DIY LED lol hope it's enough ??

Next time seek advice before doing lo. Patience is very important for marine. Say easy but do difficult coz I myself also no patience come to marine fishes.
I understand sometime may be too tempting to c those nice colourful fishes n yet tank too small.
But it's always the case when u wan this u can't have that.
Wat #3 thread indeed a logical wan.
Yea man you said it !!

firefish, goby, shrimps are all fine left inside.
find a good home for the tangs, mandarins and maroons. and the 2 lone harlequins.
Mandrain have to go too even if I get them to eat??
-
freshly hatched brine shrimp have a very high nutrient yolk sac attached to them in which they gain nutrients from. after 48 hours, the yolk sac will be depleted and the shrimp will have not much nutritional benefits.
thus, the earlier you feed the brine shrimp upon hatching the bettter.
if not wrong I feed my fishes frozen brine shrimp
oh and have croera clam too =.=

it's impossible to rear harlequin shrimps. let's put it this way. it's easy for humans to give birth. but to breed harlequin shrimps, it will be equivalent of cloning a human from 1 cell. that's how difficult it is. metaphorically speaking
which fish fellow cheat you? what LFS did you buy the maroon clowns from. these clowns are very fierce and are certainly not the same from normal clowns.
you're welcome.
Kk then I will drop the idea of breeding then =[
he said it's not fierce and keep in the tank sure ok
erm as for the rest in my tank can I just leave it ??? I mean beside transferings tangs and most likely maroon?? Anymore to change or advises??
-
Btw thanks lemon for all the tips ^^
-
:agreed:
I uses Brine Shrimp to train fishes appetite.. base on research.... basically they lost nutrition aft 48hour hatch...
dun try Maroon especially nano tank.. headaches fella....
about Harlequin... not much experience on this fella... but I know some bros feeding frozen starfish...
Cheers and Happy Reefing...
Darn thought all clowns the same the fish fellow cheat me=.= guess will change to another pair or clownfish then ^^
-
mysis is white, brine is brownish/orange. mysis is much more nutritious.
maroon is very fierce. i suggest you read up on livestock.
the reason why your linkia dies is because you just dump it in. linkia starfishes are invertibrates and are very sensitive to changes in water condition. you need to slowly acclimate them by drip method (google this up).
secondly, harlequin shrimps are very territorial (again, read up read up!) a pair will chase and fight with any other that may be present.
i suggest you separate the 2 that is being bullied.
please read up before buying anymore livestock in future to prevent such mishaps again/
Kk will get that mysis^^
oh dear guess I have to find another tank for maroon then =[
as for the starfish it dead cause it like a white roti prata =.= yea I did spilt te couple and the 2 single harlequin already
oh and btw my pair happen to breed and have eggs is it possible to hatch and rear them?
-
a nano with lots of small gobies will be nice
shrimp for the win^^
-
changing water 10% is a temporary solution. you still have to settle the overcrowding issue. as the fishes grow, it will only get worse.
for a start, transfer the tangs to your brother's tank
the mandarins will need to be trained on at least mysis. brine shrimp is worthless and has no nutritional benefits after 48 hours of hatching. adult brine shrimps like the one sold in most LFS are to a fish, like eating potato chips. delicious but nutrient deficient.
the maroon clowns are ok for now since they are new. once they get established, they will get very fierce especially in a small tank like yours. and you will be unable to add any new fish.
don't freeze starfishes to feed your harlequin. feed them whole live linkia starfishes and let them slowly eat them. The harlequin shrimp will eat the starfish part by part but won't kill it. remember to acclimate the linkia starfish before feeding otherwise it will die in your tank and foul everything up. the reason i don't encourage feeding frozen starfish is because it is dead and it might foul up your tank if your shrimps can't finish it fast enough. a decomposing starfish is really not something you would like.
yea i guess i will transfer the tangs =(
erm whats mysis ar? i always thought brine shrimp is mysis =.=
oh dear maroon that fierce but i mean with my current overstock dun think i will dare get any more fish =.=
erm cause i notice when i put awhole linkia starfish in less then a day its dead and will start to rot or rather get messy in 2 to 3days therefore when to read up how ppl keep them so started to freeze did not know it will foul the tank this way so i have to get smaller starfish then?? erm i have 4 harlequin in whcih 2 of them is a pair and always bully the other 2 =(
-
please share your equipments and tank maintenance if you manage to keep them alive
always wanted a nano with lots of fish, but never dare to try
its been 2 month but i add the blue tang 1 week ago... just a hang on filer will check in my office and diy led light thats about it =.= and daily 10% water change
-
impossible. breeding shrimps are extremely difficult. you can ask fuel. the amount of time, effort, specialised food and equipment. it's not something you can buy from LFS and do it in a separate tank
erm what does LFS mean??? erm the lucky thing is its manage to breed but the eggs how to keep...oh means not easy ?
-
Good Luck...

the maroon seems fine somehow ....as for the mandrain i managed to buy solution copepods and lucky they started to eat trying to get them to eat brine shrimp though... as for the tang yea i think i will transfer to my bro tank^^ ... as for the harlequin i freeze the starfish and chop them when feeding and will remove daily... as due to the super overcrowed tank i change 10% water daily =.=
