for a 1 ft tank use chiller? hmmm.....maybe start with fan as want my mum to try out first once is all good and sucessful if we wanna upgrade tank of set of a 2nd tank then maybe will invest more...

quick qn, for the skimmer i do notice water colletion now its like every day. just small amount. Using a motorised skimmer instead of air buble type. the cup is like 2 fingers from the inlet and water level is like 1 figer off the top of the water in the skimmer. Issit correct? Maybe coz we are cycling the tank. but there is not much bubbles at all. its like fizzing effect instead of forming. can any1 advice?

I find it interesting as i am cycling the tank as well as the rocks. Inorder to start propoerlly we sun all sand and rocks under direct sunlight till the rocks are white. This should remove all parasites? Now the rocks have been in the tank for about 1 wk. I notice that the areas tats under neath another rock has fast rate to turn pinkish. From wat i read its good sign. There are greenish and brownish and red. which i read from this forum is good as well. my next question will be; if i wanna introduce zoas / mushrooms/ etc. these rocks shdnt be all covered with colors? A very stupid question is will it actually cover the whole rock?

Corals means livestock. AVA like have many regulation. But long long time ago, my dad brought in fighting fishes in his check in lugguage. think only 50% surviced the trip.

just for the fun and since i am cycling the tank. I have top up the water so the levels in the pump compartment is the same. There is still flow but not visible from the top. after 2 days or so the water level in the pump compartment drop. but the main tank still looks ok (meaning the top). If i am not wrong the flow rate within the compartment where filteration takes plc needs lower flow rate. But due to the differential pressure. the flow rate in the main tank may not be as free flowing as if the water level in the compartment is lower then the main tank. I did a simple experiment by putting the china floating thermometer to see if current in the tank has a different. There is actually a difference. The lower compartment level has bigger swirl; coz the floating device circles a bigger circumference compared with higher level in the pump compartment. Hope this simple experiment is of some help.

ran the dymax fan for maybe 2hrs. the temp reading from 30 down to 29 the other thermometer reads from 29 down to 27dgree. is this ok for reefs / corals? if i was to leave the fan longer will it bring the temperature down more? if I install another fan will the temperature go dwn further?

There is no lights as well....now waiting to buy 1ft light. hopefully soon. so far its cycling for 1 wk. so will let it cycle awhile more

will do the read up once i am back in sg. But the level of the water in the skimmer is about 1 finger off the cup. Its the lowest tat i am able to clip on the side, cannot go any lower

so simple things like LED lights also not cheap. Haiz. i think dog stuff is cheap there. Is there like in HK a plc where all the LFS gather?

I am starting to see like red skin like thing attaching. there is pinkish stuff like icing on cake type. There is also like spot of pink. There is now appearing greensih and brownish. faintz So coraline is good? So why red slime bad?

I am thinking of going sim lim tomorrow to see if can get some DIY stuff. high wattage. If you interested to see if i got anything interesting pm me. I am thinking abt white day light running lights for cars. But there is no blue. But there is pole lights which i think is pretty bright. i think its $8 per pcs. I have seen blue ones before.

rocks are all inside the tank. Showing colors of pinkish and brownish. There are also patches or dark red. But not alot at least the rocks dun look whitish. There are water on the skimmer cup. not very dirty. just top up water as it seems to dry up fast. Water temp is about 29 degree. bought a fan but yet to install

I am happy to say that the pump is up and running so is the skimmer. so now is let it run for at least 1 wk. In the mean time search for reefs to put in.

Sorry, i was reading this portion again. So in plain words it is ok to use diamond water? We used diamond water with red sea marine mix now in the tank. Compartment 1: 2 small wool 1 balck sponge filled up with biohome, glass rings, me aqua. Compartment 2: (previous the seller put the skimmer) filled with media Compartment 3: (initialy wanted to squeeze the skimmer with pump but give it up) 1 320l/hr pump small bag of charcoal (should we use more charcoal as we have many left over frm last time) Skimmer is placed in the tank as the outlet can maybe create current (120l/hr) is this set up ok?

hahaha, like i mentioned its for retiree...so they have ALLL the time in the world. filled up with wat and scaped the tank. pump and skimmer still not fixed. Best is that they have moved the location of the tank. fiantz. water in there for 2 days now. hopefully they can start the pump and skimmer working today so that the cyclying can start.

just set up a 1 ft IOS, the water level is lower then the main tank. From my previous experience, water level is the same only when the pump is very very weak or not working. Just a simple fluid dynamics, if the level in your pump compartment is the same level as your main means there is no pressure. Meaning that the overflow system cannot work as pump compartment is the same level. There is no constant flow from your compartments hence all the same level. Make sense to you? The other thing is maybe you have over fill you water, try that at first to see. Easiest way. Slowly remove bit by bit to see if your pump compartement is lower then your main tank level. The other way is put your finger infront of the outlet to see if there is a low coming out.
