  2. Hihi My readings as follows:- PH : 8.2 Salinity : 1.023 Alkalinity : 8.6dKH Magnesium : 1080ppm (low) Calcium : 350ppm (satisfactory) Ammonia/Nitrate: Undetectable Calling on all reef experts for comments as to why my polyps aren't opening? Any advise? Many thanks Mark
  3. Hi All I found this darkish red slimy thing that looks like a cocoon in my tank. It has a head with two things sticking out but I can't locate where the eyes are. it doesn't move much however and barely moves half an inch from the same position. it has like many tiny legs and is basically motionless and I don't see it feeding on anything. I have managed to net it out of the tank and placed it temporarily in the refugium. Anyone here knows what this is (pics attached) and if its existence is beneficial to the tank in general or otherwise? Many Thanks Mark
  4. Thankfully the white spots were at their initial stage. I hope, keeping fingers crossed. As for the evaporation, I need to troubleshoot other areas. Thanks for your advice : ) Mark
  5. Hellloooo My poor Scopas Tang is down with white spots. Thanks to Octozin, which is working well and the white spots had mostly disappeared the next day. Today will be the last dosage (need to administer for 3 days in running). However, I do notice that the water evaporation has increased dramatically too after I have added in the Octozin. Is this usual? Any comments and advice? Cheerio Mark

  14. I just set up my tank about close to a month ago and only just started to stock up last weekend with some soft corals, LPS hard corals, and a few fishes (4 juvenile clowns and 2 juvenile blue Tangs). Details of my tank are as follows: - Size: 4ft x 2ft x 2.5ft Return pump: German Ehiem pump 3400 litres/hr Skimmer: Reef Octopus OCTX 160 Lighting: Solarmax 4ft MH 2 x t 150 watts MH and 2 x T5 lights Wave maker: Ecotech Marine MP40W Chilling System: Hailea chiller 300A Seawater: filtered n treated seawater Rocks: Live Rocks covered in purple coraline algae The tank so far looks fine. About 2 weeks ago, I added some tap water (set over night) to replace some evaporation and realised that tap water even if set over-night, chloramine will still be present. A grave mistake to my horror. My query is: - 1) what should I use to replace evaporation instead of tap water? 2) When do i know is the time to change water and what salt mix should I use. I understand it is best I use it with distilled water. 3) Once I have changed water, what sort of water test should I conduct? (CA, MG, KH, NH, NO, PH, Salinity) Looking forward to some guidance on the above. Many many thanks in advance. : ) Mark
  15. If for some divine intervention the shrimps are still available. Pls let me know (92308844- Mark) Thanks : )
